  1. I am sorry if my comment upset anyone. It was not my intention. In the future I will try to be more careful. For the record I truly hope Joe has a great saw that will last him many many years of trouble-free use.
  2. Good luck with your Dewalt. Their quality has not been great as of late.
  3. Barbara have you ever reached out to Sue Mey, another South African, to see where she gets her supplies and wood? Sue is a very active designer. She can be contacted through this link: Contact Me (scrollsawartist.com)
  4. I also have a lot of sanding tools but if I do need to sand, my Klingspor sanding mop gets the most use. If you have to do lots of sanding maybe you should consider using different blades.I use mostly reverse tooth blades in the smallest size I can get away with. Lots of #1 and #3.
  5. Welcome back. Glad your wife is doing better.
  6. I second Charlie's suggestion.
  7. When I first started scrolling it was on my saw for a day. After that it is trash. Now if I get a new saw, it is gone before I even setup the saw.
  8. Sorry to be late to the conversation but a wood working club I used to belong to use about 2,000 wheels a year for the Toys for Tots program we ran. The wheels came from here. We used wooden dowels for axles. We purchased what they called 2nds. 98% of the wheels were usable. Casey's Wood Products, We at Casey's have it all - wood dowels, blocks, balls, toy wheels, cutouts, shaker pegs and more. Anything for your crafts or woodworking project we will have it in stock for immediate shipping. We do offer 1 or 2 day UPS shipping if you need your order in a hurry. You can call us at 1-800-452-2739 if you need a human in a hurry for a question or something. (caseyswood.com)
  9. Vacuum before you blow to get the most off. Blowing just puts the dust back into the air to be filtered by your poor lungs and to settle back down where it came from.
  10. Klingspor in Hickory, NC has a two day wood working show every year in late October. There are a number of scroll saw demonstrations done by various clubs/organizations but no particular manufacturer is represented.
  11. Wipe it off with a used dryer sheet. It actually helps keep the dust from sticking.
  12. Like Sycamore67 said try before you buy. I bought one that was highly rated from Amazon and I could never get it to work with my eyes. Amazon took it back but it was a hassle.
  13. Just an FYI Mike’s Workshop and Wooden Teddy Bear is the same company.
  14. Works out to roughly $1.75 a piece.
  15. Since the embargo on Russian goods a lot of the BB that is actually being sold today is Finnish Birch. Finnish Birch was always a bit higher as it was made with a waterproof adhesive. Of course, the higher price is also a factor of supply and demand. Back in 2020 I stumbled on a deal of 10 sheets of 1/8" BB for understand $13.00 a sheet so I am good for the next 5-6 years. Hoping by then things will improve. As far as raising my prices I look at it a bit differently than most. Worst case I get 100 ornaments from a 5x5 sheet which I sell for $5.00 a piece so for now my margins are good enough to stay at the current price. I have found $5.00 per is a good price point in my area for simple ornaments. Yes, I do sell some more complex ornaments which I sell for up to $10.00. TBT since I do make smaller ornaments as well, I think my average ornaments per sheet really closer to 125.
  16. I do ornaments on thin stock (1/8"-1/4") all the time. Personally, I would use the Pegas #1 MGT and they will cut three pieces of poplar or most other hardwood like butter.
  17. Locks keep honest people honest. The others will do what they do.
  18. Looks rock solid. One question. The foot pedal seems to be in an odd place. Is it there just for the picture?
  19. There is a scroll saw club that meets at the Klingspor Cary location the first Sunday of the month at 2:00. Maybe you can check out the saw and club at the same time. I would call the store to see if they have one on hand.
  20. Welcome to the Village. It is very hard to answer since you did not say where you live. What I can tell you is the new Excalibur is not great saws. It is a poorly re-engineered Chinese knock off of the original. King scroll saws are true continuation of the Excalibur design. If I was buying a new saw today I would but the Pegas. Woodcraft stores in the US sell the King and many stores should have a floor model. Klingspor which has stores in NC sell the Pegas and may have a display model. If you near Dayton, TN Art Crafters of Dayton is a Pegas dealer.
  21. Sorry Eric, I took French in high school and even spent a week in Paris but that was 50 + years ago.
  22. CONGRATS!!! Enjoy the new toy tool. For the record, your English is just fine (tres bien).
  23. No amount of maintenance could help a Type 1 motor that literally burned up after about 40 hours. It was out of warrantee.
  24. I have made many Alex projects. I attach mine just like any pattern I attach to the wood and that is by spraying with 3M Supper 77 on the back of the pattern.
