    I have used craft acrylic paint to paint the backer. Left an border unpainted so there is no issue with the glue holding. Just finished 7 tags for my daughter's synchro swim team using this. First layer of paint is just a solid colour then I had some sparkle paint on top. Let that dry then sprayed satin finish over everything. To add more bling (a synchro thing) i used some stick on "diamonds" around the edge.

    I scroll in the basement, room away from the general "family room". Don't have a dedicated dust collection system. Vacuum regularly. Stick the hose for the vacuum in the opening on my belt sander when using it. Just recently started using the filters on a fan system. I would also be the one doing the dusting in the rest of the house - no big issues there.

    Thanks for the suggestions - Kevin, I did google wood suppliers in Toronto - most were large boards or would require milling - I don't have that capability. Don, I have looked at Ocooch Hardwoods, but thought if I was in Toronto I would go and browse in a "candy store". Nothing like the smell of fresh sawdust!! Frank, Thanks for the info about Woodchucker's. It was one that came up in the google search I did. I will be staying with my sister who lives in the Scarborough area and I will have access to her car.

    Not sure if this is the correct place to ask this question, but what the heck. I will be in Toronto in May and will have time to browse around. In particular I am wondering if there is a good store to pick up thin woods? Hobby store, lumber yard, etc. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

    Lee Valley has some "tape" that is designed for zero clearance on a miter saw. Used some on my DeWalt with no issues.

    As an insurance broker, most policies have replacement cost on contents. One concern would be if it is deemed "business", there is usually a limit of coverage on business property.

    Very nice Mel. There are no newbie mistakes in the eye of the recipient because they do only see the love that was put into a project. We are our own worst critics - I know I am my own. Again Nice cutting.

    No, I just actually have figured out how to get photos from my phone to the laptop!!

    Here are a couple of things that I recently made. The phone stand if for hubby who turns his guitars up so I can scroll without disturbing him. The birds still need to be mounted, was thinking of finding a nice branch and mounting them somehow. The bowl ended up being a gift to my sister.

    I am with you Jay, would swap for warmer temps just to be outside. Temperature here today is only -16©. Most of last week was -25 to -32, not counting the windchill. Scroll saw thankfully in the basement. Hubby doesn't complain about the noise - his guitars and amps get turned up, and I am the the one doing the dusting!!

    I did some cleanup, mostly went through some boxes of wood scraps and (i am sure to the horror of many) was brutal in cleaning. Decided that if I hadn't looked at the it in the last 6 months, it was going out. Don't actually feel too bad about it as most of it was free to me wood! Still need to do a full move everything out so the walls can be insulated & finished, but that will have to wait til spring. Right now it its -20degrees Celsius with a windchill factor making it feel like -30(or so)

    Looks good. I always wear hearing protection. Long exposure is just as bad as loud.

    Very nice work - I love the plywood and personally use it almost exclusively. I will have to try to find a copy of that magazine, would love the patterns for myself and that was before I got into this hobby!

    Just had one point to glue after a bit of sanding and that was after the hubby suggested I try to make it more point like at the bottom - not happening again:)

    Here are a few things that I have finished. Haven't decided what to do with them. Possibly inventory for a future craft sale, but at my rate of cutting it will be a couple of years before I have enough stock😀
