  1. That's really cool, thank you for sharing. It really spun for a long time!
  2. Thanks! I will check them out.
  3. Thank you Marg. I'm trying a variety of projects to help me improve and see what I like the best. I want to make so many things, it's almost overwhelming. There just isn't enough time in the day! Glad to know I'm improving and I will keep at it.
  4. Very impressive and clean cuts! One day I will be brave enough to tackle something like that, and I hope it will come out even half as good.
  5. Looking good! Thank you for sharing.
  6. Thank you everybody for the kind words. Glad you like them. Sure you can use the feather for something else, thanks for asking. Please show us your finished work, would love to see it.
  7. Well, she's very cute!
  8. I will keep that in mind, so far everything I've cut has had a backer and wasn't too detailed. So it's been pretty supported. And as promised, I posted pictures here: http://www.scrollsawvillage.com/topic/13221-i-made-some-dust/
  9. Back with some new pieces and the new wood I'm trying cut pretty nice! First I have the lighthouse pattern from Birchbark (thank you for the pattern): http://www.scrollsawvillage.com/gallery/image/5199-lighthouse-coaster/ Second one is another hope pattern I made. And the third is a re-cut of my feather. I cut it on red oak this time, and I'm really happy with how it came out. My cutting has improved since the last one too. Few people are already asking me to make them feathers now! Thanks for looking.
  10. Very nice! Is that a Min Pin?
  11. Nice clean cut! What did you use to frame it? Is that a store bought frame or one you made?
  12. I will take some today, it was just too late at the time of posting.
  13. Glad you're doing good. Don't worry, we will get you a peddle powered scrolls saw. You can scroll, and exercise at the same time! And I can take that Dewalt off your hands for you.
  14. Had some time to cut a few things and wanted to give a quick update. So far everything I've cut I haven't had a problem. No burning, splintering, or much of anything. The only thing I get sometimes, depending on the blade are a few fuzzies. I have to say I'm pretty surprised to see how well it holds up with the small detail cuts. I will be trying to cut even more detailed things soon, so I'll see how that goes. All in all I would go back and pay full price for it, I want to get the oak now as well.
  15. Thanks for the kind words. I will show the new one when I make it!
  16. They look great!
  17. Sorry, I didn't know. I just saw they were talking about making it into a pattern, and figured I would help and do it for him.
  18. Came out great! I wouldn't of even guessed it was your first one. You have inspired me to give it a go when I get the time. I've always wanted to try one of these. Ever since I joined this site my to-do list has grown. So much inspiration and encouragement here. If only I could just scroll all day and didn't have to work.... well, I still probably wouldn't even catch up on things I want to make.
  19. Not sure if you are still interested, but I did a quick convert for you. Figured maybe it will save you some time in Inkscape. You can add text or tweak it if you want, but here is a good start for you...if you want it.
  20. Looks great. Is that the official replica sword?
  21. That guitar is great. I wouldn't mind taking a try at cutting that myself!
  22. Great cuts, as usual!
  23. Love this one! I love the different colors on it too. Great job.
  24. I see what's wrong I think, I kind of strayed from the pattern too much. I was starting to have issues with the wood and was nervous it would break/splinter. Didn't really think much of it at the time, but it seems me not cutting the few extra cuts made things look funny. Looking back on the pattern it seems I skipped some crucial cuts. I was using some cheap sheathing and it had voids in it, this was before I got the other wood. I went back to the pattern, took the eyes from it and put them on my cut piece to see what it would look like....so before I even cut it, does this look better? This is more of what it was supposed to be cut like. You can swap between the two to get a closer look at what parts I skipped.
  25. Thanks everybody! I think the next one I do I'm going to paint behind the apple red, it might be cool....or distracting. We shall see! I think you're right, there is something off with that eye a bit. Not exactly sure what it is myself, I will mess around with it and see if I can improve it any next time.
