  1. Came out good. There's a lot of him out there.
  2. Thanks Jim. I don't know if I will ever be able to do this.
  3. Hawk, these are just ornament type bird houses. There about 3 to 4 inches tall. The hole is drilled with 1/2 forsner bit
  4. Well here's 3 of the Ambrosia Bird Houses I finished. I saw the one's that Dan did with that type of wood and I wanted to try some. When I got the wood, I didn't realize they came coated with wax. I ran one block through my table saw to get the wax off. It was a little messy but it worked. I have 3 blocks left that are 4 x 4 x 2. I might make some ornaments out of some of it. I dipped these in Lacquer 3 or 4 times. I might try a different finish on the next one's.

  6. Thanks Len. That's how I did it to. Was a little messy. Once I got the wax off, the wood looked dry.
  7. Jim, do you have to use a separate pattern for each color or do you just use one and Just put the different wood under it for the next color. Seems like it could be tricky to line up. Wish they had a video on it. I couldn't find one on muti colors.
  8. Thanks for all the tips. The wood looks pretty dry once I cut the wax off.
  9. I just put the finish on today. I'll have pics tomorrow. Dan, I knew you would know. I liked the ones you did. With that wood. I'll try the band saw on the next one.
  10. I was able to cut three pieces out of the one block which are 1 - 1/4 x 1 - 1/4. I made 3 bird houses out of the one block and 6 birds.
  11. Brad, glad to hear your doing better. Thank god they caught the problem in time. Best wishes coming your way. Hang in there.
  12. Hi everyone. I have a question for you all. I ordered some Ambrosia blocks which were 4 x 4 x 2. I want to make a few bird houses out of some of it. Well when I received it I noticed that it was all coated in wax which I never seen done before. Has anyone run into this problem and how did you get it off. I was able to run one block through my table saw and and shave a little off each side. All comments welcome.
  13. Jim, those came out great as usual. I'm still trying to figure out how to get all the different colors in the pattern ,like you do.
  14. I don't see anything wrong doing it that way. I sometimes set up maybe a half dozen patterns. Put my painters tape on and glue the pattern on and drill the starter holes and set them aside until I'm ready to cut them. I try to cut them within a week. Sometimes the pattern will lift in spots but I just put some packing tape over it to hole it down with no problem. Good luck.
  15. I think we all have boxes of cutoffs. I always find something to do with them. Dan, you have a great idea. Glue some up with different woods and cut some birdhouses out of them. I might just give that a try Dan. In fact, I got some ambrosia coming today for some bird houses.
  16. I think I have to start driving around now to see what's out there.
  17. Good job Iggy. That's a lot of work to do but it will pay off in the long run.
  18. Those look good. Looks like a pain to do.
  19. Great job Brian. That is one big piece. Doesn't really show the size in the picture. 42 pages are a lot to put together. I'm just wondering how you were able to cut it all out on the scroll saw.
  20. That came out nice Dan. I use that Poly sometimes to. Looks good after you sand it all off. Almost like inlay.
  21. That came out great Brian. Your son should love that. What type of frame do you have around that.
  22. Great looking cutting. I like them all.
  23. Those came out good. Different.
  24. You are the sign man. Nice looking.
  25. Dick, it doesn't look that bad.
