  1. I just got done cutting a few puzzles myself and I was planning on dipping them in some boiled linseed oil. Mine are made of pine.
  2. I have been trying to finish my Christmas tree for most of this week. Its either been too cold in my shop or I had something else I had to work on. Tonight I decided to put another coat of paint on them. I'm hoping to glue them up by the end of the weekend. I like it painted, I think it looks cute. On a side note, who else uses their table saw as a work table. This time around its my paint table.
  3. I love old saws, check around and see if you can get the old motor rebuilt. It may be cheaper then buying a new one. I would hate to see that old saw find its way to the scrap yard. Anyway, very nice shop you got going on there. I am in the process of designing mine and will probably be about the same size as yours. Keep up the pics, I love to see different ideas for layout and storage.
  4. Haha, you my friend got it. Its a simple Christmas tree with a Santa's hat on it. I can see you enjoy puzzles.
  5. Very good, your on the right track. Haha, nice guess but no. I have my first coat of paint on the parts, in the morning I will put another coat on them. Then time to glue them up. Keep the guesses coming, your getting closer.
  6. Yes it has something to do with Christmas. Sorry, not a duckling. That would be cool, I will have to make one, but not this piece.
  7. Interesting. Thanks for clearing that up for me.
  8. Im in Berwick, PA
  9. Sorry, no Holly.
  10. Do you know what I hate the most in woodworking? Sanding. It is the least fun thing to do in my opinion. Anyway, here is another clue. I am working on sanding all the parts, with the sharp edges rounded over it really gives a little definition to the piece. Back to sanding. :(
  11. I'm making a intarsia segmentation piece and got it cut out this morning. I came in for lunch and decided to snap a picture so we can play a game. Its called What is it? Its a Christmas Theme. I will post a final picture when I get it done in a couple days. Until then let your imagination run wild. Edit Note: I was informed that what I am making is not Intarsia, but called Segmentation. Thanks dgman for clearing that up for me.
  12. Hi, I guess its time for me to introduce myself. Name: Chris Location: Northeastern PA Married: Yes Children: 2 Teenagers, boy and girl Occupation: AutoCAD Drafting and Design Hobbies: Online Video Games, Woodworking, Welding, Fishing I am what you could call a renaissance man. I can do a little of everything and what I dont know how to do I will look it up and give it a try. I'm a firm believer that if it is broke anyway, may as well tear it apart and see if I can fix it before buying a new one. That is probably why at my company I am classified as a draftsman, but I am also the maintenance guy for our machines. Before I got there they would call service techs in to do repairs, but after I was hired I fixed a machine without them knowing and when they found out they asked if I would be willing to try anytime they go down. Its a lot better than sitting at a computer all day long baby sitting a mouse. As for my woodworking experience. Well I have make a few projects over the years. I haven't touched a scroll saw in the last 8, life just got in the way. But now I am back at it. I find the hum of the saw relaxing and if I can make a few bucks doing it all the better. I am really interested in Intarsia, I have seen many pieces and am amazed by each one. I believe they will be my main focus when it comes to scroll saw work, with Christmas ornaments as a close second. So yea that's about it. If you want to know more by all means ask or send a PM.
  13. I like the puzzle blade also, but if you don't have one, use one that has all the teeth going in the same direction. It will help keep the image in place. Some of the blades with reverse teeth on them will pull the image off the wood while you cut. At least for me they have.
