  1. I don,t think that is the right tablle for any scroll saw.The biggest thing about scroll sawing is to be able to enjoy what you are cutting .At several hundred SPM the vibration from any saw will numb your brain after awhile I would invest in a power to stand bolt the saw and weight it down with about 50# of sand and enjoy the Hobby
  2. Home Depot now sells the New EXcalibur.I don’t know if they are in the stores. But they are on there web site
  3. kevin Your are right Not having to back out as much does make it seem a little faster .I just never took the time to completley set it up until after I had the saw for a while.I guess with more cutting experiance and a tuned saw is the way to go.
  4. Ray sanding mop the smallest you would want is 6" Dia. anything smaller you start launching missiles look at Rockler or Carvewright for the 2X6.Klingspor has the Mac Mop with spindle I believe it is 2X6 or 7 for 40.00 Take my word for it they are worth the money I have a box full of sanding stuff I bought because i did not want to spend the money for the Real stuff. Now they are collecting dust from my Mac mop and sanding mop
  5. The big discussion here in Philly was about selling Eagles gear.As long as you do not try to sell as a license product you can sell anything you want to anyone .I made Football Pens with the Eagles colors and sold a few with Steeve Goods Eagles.I just can not state that it is a Eagles License product. Or use the NFL logo unless I paid for the use of it.When I bought the pen blanks they were selling Phila. Sport Blanks.People selling Eagles gear on the streets made sure there custumers new it was not an officiall license product
  6. I use both the Sanding Mop and Mac Mop.May seem a little expensive ,but they last for years for Scroll Work.I started using them on my DP but found the lathe with VS works better.Sanding almost msde me give up Scroll work. But now sanding is a piece of cake and don’t mind it now. I cut out about 75% of sanding time compared to hand sanding.
  7. Your right. Not for the set screw.Just the thumb screw.
  8. If the tip has a hole on the end .Then you need one Seyco sells them.I drilled one out ,but don’t remember witch clamp it was.
  9. That would work The only problem Kevin you would have to remember to shut it down when you leave the house.Or you would be able to cook a turkey the shop.
  10. Rocky these new electric heaters have so many safety features on them .Even if you get a larger heater it would the same thing. You have the heater mounted high.Heat rises and shuts the heater down If your milk house heater is the older one no matter what the temp.is it will keep running and it is sitting down low Good heat but don,t leave the house with it on.A little more expensive but works good for your situation is a Infrared heater that heats mass and not air.Mounted close to the ceiling out of your way and very safe.Just for kicks set it down lower to see if temp. Goes higher.
  11. Yes i would love to bolt that Hegner and EX Stand down to my concrete garage floor .But I do move them from time to time. It is amazing what 50 pounds of sand will do to these saws
  12. I know with your type of cutting Reducing vibration of any kind is a must no matter how you go about it . But for most scrolling eliminating vibration on any saw starts from the ground up.The things to look for are mostly over looked Somebody goes and buys a 1000.00 saw opens the box on a new saw ,Throws it on a bench turns it on to see how much it vibrates And the first thing you here This saw is a piece of junk My 150.00 saw runs better.Mountig the saw is the biggest mistake a lot of people make
  13. When you were taking vibration tests. What if anything were you cutting.i think that the test should be taken on what you mostly cut testing both Stock and Pegas clamps .The vibration results on the saw just running is so minimal it will be nill when cutting stock.i really can not see it lasting longer than the stock clamps.i have never had a problem with the stock holders stripping or spreading. If that was a concern than i would go down to a machine shop with a chunk of titanium and have it machined It would be lighter than aluminum and stronger than high speed steel. The problem people are having with the stock clamps are that they are mounting these big knobs on the thumb screw.Very little pressure is needed to hold the blade if you maintain the the tips of the thumb screw.
  14. Exactly what I did and sold more non cut puzzles.Mounted them on a base with or without a clock face. What really went over big at the animal shelter was the Rescue Cat and Dog mounted on a base.
  15. It did hick up on me in the middle of a cut when I first got the saw .I blew out everything with an air hose. Still did it l unplugged the saw and eliminated the Foot switch and it worked fine Checked the foot switch it turned out to be a bad one .I think checking all of the connections is a good place to start .Because of vibration wiggle all the wires on the saw while it is running.
  16. I have the Fien and dust deputy set up.Attached to the dust deputy is a splitter with 2 dust gates .One is hooked up to the Lathe with a 3” hose The other is a longer 2” hose I use for the Saws and for General clean up.I think the hose is 16’ long and I could add another length if needed
  17. I have the Hegner 18” and the EX 16 and use both saws The hegner Is a quiet smooth saw that is as bullet proof and as simple as you could get .Blade changes take a little getting used to in the beginning .But now I could do it blind folded. The EX with a few miner tweaks out of the box is a plug and go as you know.Bought both used in very good condition.I cut a lot of 3/4 Hardwood The Hegner is my go to for that I like the Idea of 2 saws If you are looking for a second saw .A good used Hegner is the way to go .It would be like buying new .They have not changed in 30 years. If you find one check with Our Hegner owners before you buy.
  18. I think they will make nice cutting boards If nothing else
  19. I have been using the Mac Mop a lot lately.I started using it mounted to my drill press. But the sight angle just did not do it for me .So now i use my lathe with the Mop I have more control of the speed and angle.I would not try to use a hand drill at all.
  20. Rob the saw measures 43X43 CM But of course it is on an angle. If you look at the pictures of it you will see what I mean .But if I already did not have a stand i would build the top at least 50x 50 CM .As far as the legs .What ever you are used to and comfortable with. But make it heavy to appreciate the Hegner advantages.
  21. It looks like it has a belt speed sticker on the side near the bellows And the plug is coming from the front of the motor. So it may not be VS
  22. Loc line sells from there site .But I bought some off of Amazon They work great .It is just a matter of figuring out what you will need to modify your saw
  23. I was using a propane torpedo heater 60.000 to 80.000 works great but to much noise .would run it for 10 min. Than shut it off for half hour That was a pain. Then I remembered I had a brand new Kerosene heater stored in the box for 20 years It is a 23000 btu Corona .Do not use the propane anymore. This thing is clean burning and very safe and cheaper than propane
  24. On my sc roll saws I am not concerned about the saw dust dropping below the table .I am more concerned about on top .So I have my air blowing towards the back of the saw where there is a house fan with a heater filter But I do use a Fein vac with a dust deputy for everything else.Either I use the tool start on the Fien or Remote contro.l If you use a Vac on the Hegner Make sure that the blade protector is up after installing the bottom blade clamp.I keep forgetting about it when I used the port
