  1. I just noticed Advance has a couple of new videos on you tube About the blade mounting system.
  2. The only thing you need is the quick clamp.I thought it was a bit pricey. But after you use it a couple of times That feeling goes away .As far as the light. You have the bracket .To witch forth I had to buy LOL.Any clamp light that has a removable clamp bracket will fit.I found mine on amazon You may have to wrap some tape around the bottom stem to keep it snug. But the saw is a learning curve that you will enjoy for a long time.Lots of luck That saw looks like it has never been used. Just looked at the table again.
  3. Yep that is all I use.
  4. They have not changed the Basic saw in 30 years. There are no bearings to replace just 2 bronze bushings The only thing that could go bad is the motor .And that could cost as much as a Dewalt Scroll Saw.But I have never heard of one that went bad. My saw is a 1998 I bought it from the original owner and it is the original motor.I cut a lot of 3/4 hardwood on that saw and never skipped a beat.
  5. Jump on it before I drive from Pa to get it. Has every extra that you could buy for it.I paid 700.00 about 2 years ago for the same set up Mine is a 1998.And thought it was a steal then
  6. Last weekend I did a 2 Day event .Did really well Both days. BUT I overheard 2 conversations And they were accusing me of laser cutting.I almost lost it. But I calmed down and showed some of my pieces up close and the saw and sanding marks on them. I got a compliment out of one person. But they still did not buy .Oh well
  7. Same thing here. But only when using Reverse tooth blades. With me it happens more with the shelf paper.Maybe because it has more adhesive
  8. When I bought the used EX 16 It was plug and go with a few miner tweaks
  9. Kevin I bought a brand new EX16 on EBay awhile back Still in a sealed box . First thing I noticed was loose nuts and bolts.Iwent around and checked every nut and bolt on that saw and found more loose So I would check it out before I did anymore cutting. And that Excalibur table is worth every penny. It is heavier steel ,legs are adjustable and mounting a piece of plywood between the saw and table large enough for a shelf is Hogs Heaven
  10. Yes Shellac is a great sealer for any kind of top coat.Or a couple of coats by it self with very light sanding in between coats is a nice finish. Not as durable as poly But I do not think that piece will get much handling. It is one of those you could look. But no touch. It is really a nice cutting.
  11. Scroll Saw Paradise has a couple of good Videos on YouTube about the Excalibur. One is just Mounting the blade and tensioning.Just search Excalibur scroll saw
  12. Kevin It should go to the back of the clamp. That is the way the clamp is made. Did you check the bump screw opposite the tension knob.it should be perturbing enough to center the blade left to right. And also check that the tip of the tension knob .It should spin free so you do not distort the blade when you tighten the blade.
  13. I use Lemon oil, BLO,Tung oil,. After applying I let it sit for 12 to 24 Hrs. I seal everything i cut with a Clear Shellac spray.I even use it for oily Hardwoods.I do not use it as my finish. It takes about 15 Minutes to dry and then a very light sanding You could put any kind of finish on top of it i normally use a Lacquar finish.never had a problem When I was doing carpenter work I used to watch Painters seal everything with Shellac.
  14. If that happened on my 20 YO saw I would slot the holes .But not a new saw yet.
  15. Dave I went down to the shop and checked the Hegner out. This is what I found. When I install a new blade I have the same problem .But by force of habit I push the blade towards the back of the saw and that kind of realigns the blade after mounting.I also do it with my Excalibur Remember these blades are not spring steel .If you make your first cut a push cut it should do the same thing. I may be wrong but try it before you check it with a square and see what happens. You only have to do it with a new blade. After that the blade should be set
  16. Monk. You probably know this already. But I will just recap .If you have the same set up as in scrappiles set up.The bottom clamp is a pinch clamp and the top squeezes together The Top quick clamp uses the pinch bolt as in Excalibur type clamp. When mounting the blade in the bottom clamp you have to make sure it is set at the point of the clamp
  17. Ken it works for both saws .I think that is the way they are made, with pre drilled holes for both saws .The stand is great .I used a piece of 1\2" ply between the saw and stand to give me a shelf around the saw. The included bolts are long enough
  18. Yes you will get twice what you paid for it.But I don,t think you will sell it
  19. Ken Don't get me wrong I love my Hegner I would never sell it .But The Excalibur seems so natural to use.Everything is right at your finger tips. And by adjusting the motor on its pivot you could have all of the aggresive cutting you will need .You may not look at the other saws anymore.i bought another EX18 new in the box a little while ago.Don't know why it is still in the box. It was a good price .But not as good a price as yours. I would not let that go either Regardless of how many saws I have
  20. Oh you will be scrolling. But you will forget what you were cutting half way thru.
  21. I just use 3 in 1 oil But anthing will work on the bushings .I use the long stroke never changed it .If I do thin material I adjust the speed .Not much maint. is there on these saws.
  22. i know I started shopping online for almost everything when I walked into sears and asked an employee for a certain size pants and she stared at me and said, If you don't see it we aint got it .I wander how many sears workers are now working at the Amazon loading belt.I am lucky .The 2 woodcraft stores are both about 40 Min. from me.One in Delaware. That is where I buy big ticket tools to save on tax.I think they are owned buy the same person .And both are great stores.
  23. There are a lot of members here that bought there Excalibur saws brand new . I have 2 that I bought one used and one still in original box I bought off of ebay. When your new saws needed repair .Did you ship it back to where you bought it.Was there a repair center close by you,Or did you just recieve the parts you needed under warranty.I know if you buy a Dewalt you take it to a repair center.Where would you take a Jet saw for repair.Do you send that back also.If you buy a Seyco what would you have to do.Send it back or call Ray and ask if he would send the parts out after you explain what the saw was doing.I know on most of my other big shop tools if it is under warranty they would send out the parts free. Out of warranty that would be a crap shoot.I have never sent a shop tool back for repair. So I really do not know what the procedure is.
  24. I hate to say this .But it seems that all of these Hegners that are for sale are being sold by family members whose original owners passed away There is also one on Phila. CL 22v for sale owner passed away and Husband is selling it.Got me wandering.
  25. That is all of the upgrades that Hegner offers. That saw even has the top Quick Clamp
