  1. Ray 2 things to look for. 1Front tension lever. That will set you back about 190.00 Yes you will need it .Variable speed .Ithink you will need it also My saw is a 1998 I bought it used and it came with the front Lever it was an add on on that saw
  2. I have both the EX and the Hegner set up to cut. If am compound cutting or using a lot of 3/4 hardwoods the Hegner is my go to saw.No vibration or struggling for that saw.I have not been cutting for as long as most people here. But I have never heard of a problem with the EX or Hegner Motors And it does not sound like a major problem with any scroll saw.The biggest problem is vibration with intricate cuts.
  3. Just the oppisite is right I am going to stick with the all craft shows
  4. I did a Octoberfest a couple of miles from me They had Music, A Bark in the Park by the local Animal Shelters. It was a total disaster. That was the Third music fest I will not do anymore Craft events where they have Music ,food and Booze .People come to these for the free Music and leave there wallets at home. They do not come to buy anything but food and Beer. There are more commercial booths than Crafters Like Realters ,Roofers,Home repair, Windows ,Gutters, Colleges.Private schools. For now on it is strictly Craft Shows. One guy was spilling Mustard on my Pens from his Hot Dog.Talking about biting my tung.
  5. I was wondering about that. I use CA for a finish on all of my wood pens now..I was using a friction polish. But it does not hold up very well. The CA is a lifetime finish and when done right makes a beautiful pen.I verbally tell my customers that the pens are guaranteed for the rest of my life LOL.
  6. Hotshot. What is the CA for
  7. Dave the motor alone cost more than a Dewalt saw.So the piece of mind is worth it.Even though these are very Robust motors.Things happen. My saw was built in 1998.Touch wood.Still going strong. Very quiet no vibration what so ever. When you get your saw,put a blade in it,adjust the tension. You are going to laugh at how quiet it is.Advance is a good place to deal with to.I have been dealing with them for years .I have a Tormek sharpening system .That is where i get my parts for that also.
  8. Scrappile you know these saws are timeless 1 5 or 20 YO they are the same .That is why when you buy a used Hegner you have no problems at all and very low Maintenance.
  9. I have the Fien VS vac. I stopped using it on my scroll saw .Instead I use a fan with a filter on th back of the saw and a angled blower nozzle with compressed air . Very little dust escapes this set up. About once every half hour the 60 gallon compresser kicks on and scares the daylight out of me. I have the Regulator set at 35# for the saw and it works out great. To get back to your question.I have been running my Fien on tool Start for 1 1/2 years now with no effect at all. That is what they were made for.Whether you are sanding ,sawing, drilling. Now if you don't mind the saw running all the time, then use a remote. I think a remote works better.i have them for the fans and use it to run the vac for my lathe.
  10. Dave.Did you order extra bottom blade holders. I have a couple of the mid size holders and they work just fine for all except for the smallest of the blades. Most of my cutting is done with FDUR 3 or 5 and I keep them loaded up.You will break a few blades in the beginning. But once you get the touch for tension that will stop .Except for normal blade wear.If you do use the thinnest than the smaller clamps are what you will need.It is a learning curve. But i had the Hegner long before the EX so I kind of learned to saw on it.And it does come natural. And if your New saw gets chips in the paint.Kubota orange is a perfect match.
  11. Oh I see
  12. Everything in my shop is on wheels, except the shelving against the walls. These shelves are very ridged when rolling around the shop.Everything is pretty heavy gauge
  13. I know they are a lot of money But if later you decide to get one They last for years for our kind of work.
  14. Playboy Mag Holder
  15. Sanding mop Klingspor sells them. They are a must with Scroll work
  16. Just thought of something. You can not use a circle cutting jig on a lot of your cuttings
  17. Now that is a Bandsaw
  18. I guess he does not worry about sawdust. That is some wood eater
  19. Jerry I made a circle cutter for my little Band saw It makes perfect circle from 3" to 18" they are very simple to make I went on YouTube to get some ideas. The whole trick is to use a thin blade
  20. Cocobolo makes beautiful pens also.i have been stocking up when the prices are rite. They are having a hard time getting it imported
  21. That is where I bought this set.I had some reward bucks The other 2 Iordered from Seville .Same price Free shipping no sales tax.
  22. I saw them at Costco .They may be made by the same company .But different name. And a littl lighter gauge. That is where I first looked. These are really ridged Ihave to move them around every so often. These do not rack out at all when moving them.
  23. Just got these Steel wire shelves. No tools needed But I used a rubber Mallet to lock them in.Rock solid and on casters. They are made by Seville Shelving .36"w 18"d 72"h 100.00 Shipped I liked them so much.Just ordered 2 more
  24. Yeah but open Roller you could clean and grease before you start having trouble.Everybody who buys a new Dewalt should take this into account. But hey Dewalt is giving away new saws under warranty so why grease them
