  1. Wow, those are very nice Dave. Thanks for showing them. I may have to do something similar up on the House Divided one and give to my Son for Christmas. He will be starting his 2nd year at Univ. Georgia making him a "Dawg" fan and I am a die hard, blood runs deep orange TN Vol fan! Sports stuff is always going to be big sellers - just look how much we pay to "watch" a game anymore!
  2. Sorry funds are low for you right now Kevin. Not sure pharmacist will help you out but I wanted to say that I really like that pattern and you did a great job cutting it out. Can you tell me where to find the pattern? I think it would make a great gift for my sister.
  3. Wow, looks awesome. I am in awe of your work. Thanks for sharing.
  4. Thanks Kevin - I will have to see if I can find some old threads on that. You're welcome. Glad I could help. They were great to work with but wish I could find more local to get to save on shipping.
  5. Thanks for sharing your picture of your work Edward. I am sure any Fireman and/or his family would love it. It is beautiful. Great job on cutting it out. Especially on all those stars!
  6. Hey Rick. Project looks great. However, I do confess that it is hard for me to think Christmas when it is in the mid-90s outside. As a newbie, I am always interested in finding new patterns and i really like this one. Dave mentions that he was looking at that plan in an old magazine, is that also where you found it? If so, could you all identify the magazine edition and such or tell me where else it might be found? Thanks. Thanks for sharing your photo of the finished piece. I enjoy seeing the finish work everyone does so I can "learn" something.
  7. Thanks for the info. MrsN - always good to learn and understand about how certain characteristics in wood come about. Especially for a newbie like me.
  8. Nice looking bird Kevin. Great that you have a friend fluttering around to keep you company now. Looks like you deserve that nap all the work you accomplished.
  9. Beautiful work. One day I might get brave and try one. Thanks for sharing.
  10. Wayne - i am adding in a link again to the Handsomewoodman site - not sure if it works any better then one Paul added. You might need to add in a www in front of it. http://thehandsomewoodman.com Be_O_Be - I think it may be more of a "regional" wood - regional being the mid-west Pacific West Coast. I have looked a little for it in my area (Eastern TN) and have not yet found it readily here. I will keep looking for it. I have checked once or twice at Jefferies Fine lumber which is close to Judy Gale Roberts studio and where she gets some of her wood from but haven't found it there. She had created a sample of her "trigger fish" for her beginner Intarsia class from some blue pine. She is using it in her Intermediate class in the Fall to make an elephant so I plan to ask her where she is sourcing it from. Would love to find somewhere a little closer to me. No Menards here but I have heard others say they found some there like Sycamore57 who is over in NW Indiana looks like. In the interim, the only place I really found it was at the Handsomewoodman site which is not really convent to you in Ohio or me in East TN. Which means shipping is close to the price of the wood. I did order a couple of wider and longer pieces from them a couple of weeks ago. They were received in excellent condition and look very nice. I have not yet attempted to cut anything from them but look forward to using it. I love the look of it.
  11. These look great and I am sure that they will be appreciated and then admired by many customers. Thanks for sharing the pic.
  12. Looks like I missed this one earlier when I was browsing Denny. This one is very nice too. I look forward to seeing the bear one when you get it finished. Thanks for sharing.
  13. I am sure your wife will love them both. It's great that she likes to have you make her new items for her gifts. Thanks for sharing the photos.
  14. Great - right now I think we will be in town that week. As you get closer to your trip and deciding your plans let me know and maybe we can work out at least meeting up at Judy's shop.
  15. Thanks for the welcome Clayton. Let me know next time you all head down south and are going to Judy's studio and perhaps I can meet you in person one of those times. I was excited to learn that I was so close to one of the great Intarsia talents - definitely makes it easier to take her classes - lot less expense since I can drive over every day and sleep in my own bed. I am signed up for the intermediate class in October and am looking forward to that. Need to get some more work done in the interim on my own. That was one reason I signed up for that class a well, to "encourage" myself to keep going and working on projects.
  16. Great looking work Bobby. As a Vol/Lady Vol fan myself, I was confident that 3rd one was our beloved coach Pat Summitt. It's a great piece in honor and memory of her. So hard to believe she was taken with such a horrible disease way too soon. I just lost my own Mom who was also a Pat in April to Alzheimer's. I know your work would be cherished by many Lady Vols and their great allegiance of fans. Thanks for sharing your work.
  17. More beautiful work Kevin. Thanks for sharing your photos. I love seeing what others can do with a scroll saw. I am always amazed at everyone's work.
  18. Love the wood and the scrolling. Clearly you married a highly intelligent woman!
  19. Looks great Kevin. I think it will be some time before I am attempting to cut an actual puzzle. Talking about needing perfect cuts! Thanks for sharing your photos.
  20. Thanks for sharing your photo. I've been thinking of maybe giving some trivets a try at some point. You did an excellent job on this one.
  21. Very nice. Thanks for sharin your photo, As anewbie to the scroll saw, this is the type of cutting that I find intimidating! Lots of intricate cutting.
  22. Looks great Dick and sure your friend will love it. I love all of Judy Gale Robert's patterns. I have a couple of her books and some of Kathy Wise that I have been working through. I took JGR's Beginner class in May and thanks to the class discount, added several of her patterns to my stash for trying. I mainly tried to stick with her beginner patterns but some I loved will have to wait on my skill level to improve. So glad to hear your daughter is getting interested and trying out Intarsia work. Tell her to come join this newbie here on the forum and she and I can learn together. Thanks for sharing your photo here.
  23. Looks great. My husband is a self teaching himself guitar. Plus I have a niece and nephew who play. Any and all of them would love something like this. I have downloaded a number of Steve Good's files into my saved pattern files to work on "someday" as I get more comfortable with my saw. I will have to see if I grabbed this one yet. His blog and files are a treasure trove to a newbie like me. I am sure your friend will love it. Thanks for sharing the photo of it.
  24. I agree, excellent work. I am in awe of the time, patience, and talent shown in this piece of art. Clearly you put your hear and soul into it. I look forward to hearing how you do with it at the fair. If you don't win, please make sure you take a pic and share of what did as I can't imagine what it would be to beat this. Thanks for sharing your work in progress and the finished project wit photos. As a newbie to the craft, I like seeing the progression and its completion. It will be quite a while before I would under take a project like this I think!
