  1. thanks for all the warm welcomes from everyone. I have been enjoying my time here.
  2. I agree - look great and I am sure people love seeing their names on your work. Thanks for sharing.
  3. I love the turned ones and really like your latest venture into the scroll saw. Maybe since my husband is learning turning and I the scroll saw, we can one day attempt these ourselves. Thanks for sharing your photos.
  4. Beautiful. Good luck on your planned adventures. Hawaii is still on my "bucket list". Hopefully we will get there one day sooner then later!
  5. Wow John, that total is very impressive and you have done a lot of good for many people. I am sure that the Lions Club people are great fans of you and your work. Nothing can help you feel better then knowing that you are doing something you love and helping others with it. Thanks for your generous heart and spirit. While I just starting out - I was thinking a while back, it won't take long for work to start "stock piling" - this is a great way to help others, clean out the stock, and let a person keep doing the work they enjoy. The other lesson here is that over time, even small gifts/donations can add up to a lot. You have inspired me, Thank you! Kevin - Please don't dismiss your method of giving back to the world either - the happiness that your work brings to you and to those whom you give it away to (who may not be able to afford it otherwise) is no less a wonderful contribution to making the world a happier place! No price tag can be put on happiness for you or the recipients!
  6. Great cutting on both of them. Love them both, for different reasons. Could see both being great gifts for several different family members. Thanks for sharing.
  7. Hey Dick - just wanted to answer your question. The puffins pattern is one from Judy Gale Roberts. (I remembered seeing it when I took her class.) you can find it on her website here: http://intarsia.com/?s=Puffins&submit.x=0&submit.y=0&post_type=product You can buy just the pattern, or for a little more get her "classroom in a tube." That gives you the multiple copies you need and her directions. Classroom looks like it is presently on sale for a few dollars savings. I believe that a couple of years back she used this piece in her advanced class before she did the sun with a face last year. This year it is Enstein image looks like. You did a great job on yours Rick. Thanks for sharing your photo. I agree, I would put two hangers on it level with each other. You could also reach out to Judy's shop and see how they recommend doing it. I know they would be happy to help.
  8. Great job. Can't imagine anyone not liking your woodworking. All your work here that I have seen is fantastic. I think you do great work. thanks for sharing.
  9. Nice work Kevin and I like the stands you made as well. thanks for sharing.

    Lamp

Very interesting turn on a bowl. Beautiful work and looks like some significant time put in on it. I like the doily too. But the lamp outshines it for sure.
  11. Looks great, wonderful cutting. Thanks for sharing.
  12. You must heed my husband's adage - no two greater words then "Yes Dear". Think she was onto something - looks great in that frame. You did a fine job on the frame. Thanks for sharing the "upgrade" version.
  13. Very cute. I am sure your granddaughters will love them and a great message for them to embrace. Thanks for sharing.
  14. Looks great Joe. I was outside enjoying the morning and the cool air that we finally have a bit of before it heats up again today. Although I think today we are suppose to get a break and only be around 89 today - first time without a mid-upper 90s day in almost two weeks. (Far from our "norm".)
  15. Congratulations. Its always exciting to get more room for your "needs". Sounds like a win-win for everyone involved. Wife, you, and the dogs. We built the house we are in now and moved in 11 years ago this month. The "joke" in the family is that we built it for my husband's wood working shop and my "work room". Thought we had lots of space in those two rooms too - but now 11 years later - not so much it seems. The house before this one had a two car garage plus some space with one door. When he filled up his garage space and had to park outside - that was fine - when he started horning in on my garage space I said - timeout! I don't park outside in the winter months! (and our winters are not that bad!) No, I am horning in on his wood working space with my scrollsawing. So far he's sharing.
  16. Looks great. If I ever get brave enough to try that type of work that will be on my "to do list". I know several family members who would love it if I could do it as well as you have here. Thanks for sharing the final photo.
  17. Welcome back from a Newbie who joined while you were away. I see you are from Southern TN - that can cover a lot of territory in this State. I am from TN to - from East TN around Knoxville. Always good to see fellow Tennesseans on forums.
  18. Looks like you are doing a great job making various toys with moveable limbs Jim. I really like the Martian and the Reindeer.
  19. I really like the bear. Lots of detail work there. I am sure your dreamcatchers will be sold quickly. TFS
  20. Great job. See, the "customer" will dictate what they want. I like your granddaughter's idea of switching out paper backings to make it different colors.
  21. More awesome work Kevin and glad to hear that you were able to work out a deal with the pharmacist to provide you with your needed meds and you do the name plaques she wants. Win-Win. Thanks for sharing.
  22. Looks great Scott and I am sure you wife loved your thoughtfulness. Congratulations on celebrating 30 happy hears together. We will celebrate 31 tomorrow. No scrolls projects to give to hubby yet though. Too new - maybe next year. Thanks for sharing your picture.
  23. If you add the "S" then it can be done either way. It can be done with the "S" thus making it plural or that last "S" can be left off by the person cutting it and making it singular if choosing to honor only one single marine. Win/Win that way.
  24. I agree with Len, ornament looks good. Glad to hear vibration is not an issue with it.
  25. Thanks for sharing Dick. always good to learn info on the different saws out there.
