  1. Looks great Denny and I am sure the foundation will enjoy getting it and having it as either a prize or an auction item. Whoever ends up with it will love displaying it. Thanks for sharing.
  2. Beautiful piece of art you have created. Not surprised your wife grabbed it and hung it up. thanks for sharing.
  3. Awesome job - on getting a useable pattern and then cutting it out. thanks for sharing.
  4. Excellent work. I suspect will be well received by the Roberts and the Diamonds. Good you have a "paint shop" with extra help.
  5. Well GrampaJim - I hope I did the right thing. I really wanted PURPLE! I saw them "in person" at Judy Gale Roberts Studio when I took her class. PURPLE is my favorite color. I have a DeWalt 788 Type 1 already soooooo - I didn't NEED one. I'm just a beginner so one saw should be plenty. But it was PURPLE and an Excalbur and did I mention it was an original Canadian one and it was PURPLE. Anyway - I really hope everyone agrees it was a good buy because it should be headed to my house from Texas very soon. Now how to hide a PURPLE scroll saw from my husband? (He won't care I bought it - he thought I was already going to buy an Excalibur before I even took my first class because several people he knew told him once I took the class, I would want one since that was what I would use in JGR's class. He'll just want to know WHERE I plan to put it. That's a good question. )
  6. A great friend who goes to the trouble of making you a personalized apron for your shop. Looks nice - even with the coffee stains.
  7. Hello, I am a newbie to the saw recently. As a result, I have spent a lot of time reviewing all the information that I can find on using the saw. Steve Good Has a great Beginner Scroll sawing videos on youtube. In the second one, around the 4:35 timestamp area, he explains the issue with cutting "straight" with a scroll saw. You can find that video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nxx-JuQJsms. Others have also explained it the same or similar to Steve's in the video. I bought the scroll saw I have years ago when my kiddos were little, as a result, I didn't have a lot of time to work with it and gave it up. However, I do know that part of my issue/frustration was that I couldn't get it to cut "straight"!
  8. All very nice work. thanks for sharing.
  9. I agree, look awesome and a great idea for selling to horse lovers or gifting to the horse lover in your life! Thanks for sharing the idea and for showing your pictures.
  10. Looks very nice. I am sure your daughter will love it. Thanks for sharing your photo - glad you were able to finally get it to show!

  13. Ditto - all said - looks great. Greer you can use scraps. Thanks for sharing.
  14. Always good to have a happy wife.
  15. Have you checked your local area's craigslist to see if anything close in regards to a good used saw perhaps? Just an idea I have seen others on here recently post that they have found some good saws that way. Good luck. Let us know if you find anything and how it goes.
  16. Beautiful work. Hope you do well with your craft show. thanks for sharing.
  17. More good work Kevin. thanks for sharing. I really like the napkin holder as well.
  18. Beautiful scroll work. thanks for sharing your photo. I need to watch those sometime. Never did that I can recall.
  19. Glad you two could get together. I am sure you had a great time and got to enjoy seeing all of his work. What - only 3 hours in the Mall - surely your wife could have done better then that! Course, I would have skipped the mall and gone to Scrappile's with you. I hate the mall - not much for shopping either (unless I am looking for new toys - err "tools" for my crafting hobbies.) Hubby says it makes it difficult for him when its time to buy me presents though!
  20. Then you need to say - that $15 was for an 8"x11" - how much bigger do you want it? for 10" x 12" - it would be X dollars, for 12" x 15" - X dollars - or you can say that $15 was for 8"x11" - if you want bigger - I can go bigger but for every 2" bigger or 3" or whatever increment it will be another $4 - $5 - $10. Figure out your prices ahead of time and have a "price list" to refer back to and/or provide to the customers for reference. If you have the price list - you can figure out ahead of time - general cost of your materials (include blade replacement, etc. not just the wood) and give yourself something for your time. Otherwise, you are loosing money, people are taking advantage. People will pay you if you ask for it. You are worth it!
  21. Definitely King of the name plaques. Do you see them in your sleep?
  22. Theresa - remember how long has your dad been working with his saw and how long have you been working on yours. I had to keep telling myself that when I went to my class. Everyone there was an experienced scroll sawer but me! With time, we will get faster. (At least I keep telling myself that - also keep telling myself - remember how long JGR has been doing Intarsia - and others on the saw - time is our friend.)
  23. Beautiful work and i am sure that your friend will be quite pleased to be the recipient of such great work. Thanks for sharing.
  24. That's very nice of you to honor her accomplishments. I am sure that whatever you do she will treasure. You have gotten a couple ideas. I will put my thinking cap on and see if anything surfaces. You could make her a plaque perhaps with her name, degree earned (if you can find it out), school obtained from, and date. Add a grad cap and rolled diploma to it.
  25. Beautiful piece. I am sure the family will treasure it for years. Now you have some time to practice the inlay process. Thanks for sharing.
