  1. Good idea!
  2. The problem is the open areas would have adhesive and be real dust and debris catchers.
  3. John you are correct. It is 3/16" Sande Interior underlayment. A 4X8 sheet sell for just over $24.Don't know where I saw birch. I just went out and checked a label.
  4. I buy this cheap stuff at Home Depot because it IS inexpensive compared to BB at Woodcraft. It scrolls very nicely and when I compare the surface to BB they look the same. HOWEVER, when I apply 50/50 BLO one side is very light while the other is a reddish color. I have no problem with that except that before cutting I do not know which side will be light and which side reddish as both sides are the same before applying the BLO. I'm not complaining just making an observation. The photos do not reflect the colors exactly but will give you an idea. I'll keep using it. The darker one is much more red that it appears here.
  5. Great looking clock. I like the wood and finish.
  6. Very nice!
  7. Great looking cutting.
  8. WOW, stunning!
  9. There's no place like home!
  10. I can't use spray adhesive as it will get on all the edges as JT says. It would be a mess. I likie thr idea of a small roller or sponge. Thanks everyone for the helpful feedback. Much appreciated!
  11. JT, what adhesive would you use?
  12. Ahhhh! Thank you!
  13. I'm curious. Your lamp has two lens, 1.75X and 2.25X. Which one works for you. I ask because this has been discussed at length not too long ago. Most mag/led lights have reasonable to excellent glass optics. Many scrollers purchase these lamps with 5X lens which has too long a focal length. I use a 1.25X which works well for me and only $25. I have no first hand experience but from what I think Hegner, Hawk and other saws that come with a lamp are perhaps somewhere between 1.25X and 3X. I looked at lots of mag lamps and almost all were %X. I bought a fairly expensive one and could not use it. I could be full of hot air so if I am I don't mind hearing about it. JMHO
  14. How would you glue this? There are so many fragile areas too small to apply glue to. Even If I could the first ones would be dry before I could get it on the backer. Any advice is appreciated.
  15. That's a cool pattern!
  16. Great looking puzzles. Great job!
  17. So what did you do Ray?
  18. Not a whole lot going on here so perhaps I can get something going. This morning I spent working on Wally Walleye. I spent a couple hours getting it ready to cut and a bit of that. Steve Good suggested keeping an old blade around the saw with a small magnet to be used for poking out bits of wood of a pattern being cut. I made a small handle on the lathe and epoxied a #9 blade into it. That passed a little time. Next I needed to upgrade the little cart for my small air compressor. The cart has lots of lines drawn on it. I thought the compressor sat on four pads. Then I turned it over to measure the pads and I discovered it had only three pads so more lines were needed. Since the thing rolls on four bearing like casters allowing it to wander all over. I added an eye screw on one corner so it can be pulled straight with a short tow line. I hope some of you scrollers respond with pictures.
  19. Great find. I search CL everyday even if I'm not really looking for anything. Never know what pops up.
  20. I could but I'm limited to 8-1/2 X 11. Office Depot is 10 minutes away and is right next to Home Depot. Pretty lucky Huh?
  21. Great pattern. Unfortunately the young generation neither remembers or cares. Patriotism is no longer taught or accepted in schools.
  22. That looks great. Did you design the pattern? It is very nice.
  23. Thanks John. I've been looking at their web site.
  24. Nice cutting on a great pattern. I have the pattern waiting for me to get it enlarged at Office Depot.
