John, I should have guessed! Your pens, turnings and cuttings are always exquisite. That is a clever use for blades. Unfortunately I will never get around to casting. That seems to be an altogether hobby in itself.

I throw away blades that have been used substantially. But there are times I will switch to a different blade for a few final cuts. I do not want to throw it away so I return it with new blades. Do any of you have a system for used blades?

The reason I hype the Hawk so much is because there are so many posts about the DeWalts and the Deltas. I just want to make Sabrina aware about other possibilities. The number of users on DeWalts and Deltas make it obvious they are excellent machines.

Your system certainly is complete. You are correct that there is a lot of airborne dust. I will be getting another gate and wye to continue upgrading.

Well it is a slow evening so I'll just post my revised dust collection I made today. I made two arched blocks containing rare earth magnets. the arch at the rear of the saw has 1/2"X1/8" magnets. The front has 3/4"X1/8" magnets. Rare earth magnets are STRONG! The system really sucks.

I'm curious about frequent blade breakage. Never had this happen on my Hawk. I've never broken a blade.

Hi Sabrina. Welcome to the Village. A great place to be. About the Hawk, I have the 220VS Ultra Hawk and love it. I had a small 14" Hawk, then a 216VS Hawk and now a 220 Hawk. I am a great Booster of Hawks. You would get more replies posting in the General forum. That is the first one everyone reads. Did I mention I love my Hawk?
