  1. Those are beautifully done and impressive. Bruce
  2. Wow. That is really unusual. Be curious to see what you do with it. Bruce
  3. Thank you! Your input is valuable to me. Besides, my bride of 54 summers thinks I should "leave it as is......"

Hi Chas: You will find "The Village" a valuable source for knowledge, trouble-shooting and especially inspiration. Welcome to the Village. Bruce
  5. Welcome, Kathy! You will find that your woodworking skills open up so many doors for scrolling. My Father-in-Law taught me how to edge join wood panels and how to surface plane and use a card scraper to prepare the surface. It opens many doors for creative scrolling. Bruce MN
  6. I am considering cutting serrations into the sides to give a broken log appearance. My bride of 54 summers says no. Hmmmmmmm
  7. I wanted to scroll this verse in plaques for my two college age Grandsons. My daughter has it hanging in her office and the boys have remarked that they like the verse but that the plaque treatment is too "Girly" for them. These are cut from a single "generous" 4-quarters blank of live-edge cherry yielding 4 blanks roughly 3/8" thick. The four were then edge squared, planed and joined as a single piece - backed by 1'2" birch ply. They are "drying" after a coat of Danish oil and I will apply Shellac when they are ready.
  8. I no longer use spray adhesive. 1. I prepare my wood blank with a thorough sanding ending with 220 grade. 2. I blow the saw dust off and then use a clean rag with rubbing alcohol to clean the surface. 3. I apply Walmart clear shelf liner material and use a wallpaper edge roller to press the shelf liner into the wood. 4. My patterns are printed on full sheet labels. These are joined to complete the pattern then taped together with top and side center points marked. 5. The label paper is applied over the clear shelf liner. 6. I use 2" clear tape as the final layer of the assembly. 7. This adheres so well that I have to use a heat gun to ease the removal of the pattern.

  12. Dave, I am so sorry this news. My prayers are with you as you navigate those terrible waters. Bruce
  13. Beautiful work. Welcome to the Forum! Bruce
  14. When I was scrolling daily, I moved the speed upward. I just returned to scrolling after 2+ years of no scrolling. I had to crank the speed back. My answer to your question - whatever speed you can dial in and still stay RELIABLY on the line. Start slow and crank it up slowly as you get your sea-legs.
  15. Very nice use of the grain patterns to make it come alive. Well done!
  16. Thanks!! It took me a year to complete it - primarily because I had so much time and effort in on the project I procrastinated before each additional step because it put all the previous work at risk. This is a classic case of pushing yourself if you truly want to learn new stuff.
  17. Delivered amidst smiles.
  18. It is designed by Marc Spagnuolo AKA the Wood Whisperer who sells the plans and has a very helpful array of videos that walk you through the whole project in great detail. https://thewoodwhispererguild.com I had never undertaken anything as ambitious as this and it pushed me to the edge of my abilities. Truth be told - i am glad it is done. The outcome was never assured until it was. I presented it to my 12 year old granddaughter at her birthday party tonight and the smiles and hugs made it all worthwhile.
  19. A jewelry box for my only granddaughter. This project called for woodworking techniques I have never done before. From the hand cut blind dove tails to controlling chip-out on the curly maple - it has challenged (and frustrated) me beyond measure. The drawers are divided and flocked in black. The bottom drawer has a ring storage area. It is FINALLY done and I will be giving it to her at her birthday party today. It has a hidden drawer that is accessed by a sliding panel on the back. I am ready to get back to scrolling now.
