  1. Beautiful piece, Ron. I have found the sanding to be a bit challenging mixing Jatoba with other softer woods. I had to use an oak sanding block (versus the hard rubber 3M sanding block) to keep the surface flat. Jatoba gets turns to a deep red over time.
  2. My cow would be udderly upset to see that your cow has a phone! Nice job! Bruce
  3. Nice variety of projects and all well cut! Really nice! Bruce
  4. Very nice! Your accidents are better than my best! Bruce
  5. Tsk, tsk, tsk! Exposing your brother to an addiction! Well done and his first cut looks great! Bruce
  6. Now that is very politically incorrect. I love it!!!!! Bruce
  7. Thanks, Ron. It has become my "go-to" wood for plaques. It starts out beautiful and ages beautifully as well. Bruce
  8. It is a new and highly valued currency known as IRW (I Remember When). It is best coined by grandparents who feed time, effort and love into the mix to form lasting memories that will be treasured by their grandchildren long after they, the grandparents, are gone. Well Done! Merry Christmas, Charlie.
  9. Love it! I won't show it to my wife though...... December in Minneapolis - Snow, Cold and Gnomes!
  10. Don't you love using scraps and reclaimed wood for creating treasures. Well done!! Bruce
  11. Welcome back. Nice work! Bruce
  12. That is the kind of project where the further you get the greater the risk. Well done!
  13. That is an outstanding piece. Well done! Bruce
  14. So you get your new planer and discover you can now produce all thickness ...... and sawdust......lots of sawdust......ankle deep sawdust. My next purchase was a huge central vac system - the largest I could run on a 30 amp circuit....... All kidding aside the planer is a terrific addition to the shop when combined with a decent band saw for rough sawing stock. I truly love 8/4 stock as it gives you so many options. Hoping Santa comes through for you! Merry Christmas!
  15. Welcome back Ron. In 9 days it will be a Three-Quarter-of-a Century for me.
  16. Okay, I will post one of my dumbest mistakes. I wanted to compose a plaque using Micah 6:8. I messed with it and messed with it until I had a layout that "felt" balanced. Having "accomplished" the balance I printed the design, applied it to some wonderful cherry and cut away. I can't tell you how long this took to cut but rest assured it was a long undertaking. When I removed the pattern and surveyed my work my heart sank. I was so focused on the overall balance I did not notice the additional space between the words love and mercy. Once you see it you cannot "un-see it". I keep this piece handy to remind myself that you have to slow down and see detail at multiple levels. Overall balance is important but so are the small details. I show the final design also to redeem myself.
  17. Sage advice. "There's never enough time to do it right but there is always time to do it over......"
  18. Sounds like it was "one of those days". I pray the next will be an "out of the park" event. Your work is superb! Bruce
  19. I had some left over cherry scraps so I cut and planed them to 1/8" and stack-cut them. A great way to use up scrap! I put this pattern into the pattern section if anyone wants to cut it. Bruce
  20. I can almost hear the thundering hooves! Great job! Bruce
  21. Complicated project but your results are fantastic. Great work! Bruce
  22. Hi Juan: I just looked up the Delta manuals. The Model 40-691 is listed as China Manufacture. The 40-695 is listed as Taiwan Mfg. Taiwan manufacturing is generally higher quality. I can't find that info for Jet although one dealer lists it as Taiwan.
  23. Ahhh, but the kindling burns so brightly. Sigh.......
  24. Very true. It is an art where "action before plan" brings frustrating rediscoveries.
