  1. Nice! The heavy grain of the wood is perfect for that cutting. Is that oak?
  2. "The "Frozen Five" "The magnificent 7-2" Really cute Well done!
  3. The degrees of freedom for side-to-side movement of the blade in the Pegus holder is .024" (.6mm) on the upper clamp and the lower clamp. That is not the angle. That side to side movement impacts the angle by up to roughly .5 degrees. When doing inlay .5 a degree is significant.
  4. My problem is that the angle of the blade changes after setting it due to the ability of the blade clamps to shift laterally by up to .021" left and right each (Top and bottom). I can set the blade angle but as I cut angle changes dramatically. With the combined freedom of movement the blade angle has the freedom to change by .6 degrees. I am in the process of trying to restrict that freedom of movement by inserting spacers. I love your work, by the way! It is spectacular!
  5. Your troubleshooting is impressive. I hope the new controller board does the trick. To update an old adage: To err is human. To really screw things up you need "technology".
  6. Hi Jim: I have discovered that the Pegus clamps installed on my Excalibur have .021" of play side to side (top and bottom clamps). The original factory blade holders share the issue. I talked to Bear Woods about this and they told me they would send some spacers. These have not yet arrived. I am discovering impossible variability in the inlays. The first pf the 3 initials for the pencil holder boxes goes all the way through, the second stops 2/3s of the way through and the third stops at 1/3 of the way. I suspect that any sideways pressure would cause the bottom blade holder to drift to the left and increase the angle of the cut causing a fit that is too tight. I don't know for certain that the side-to-side play is the problem but it is certainly high on the list of potential causes. I will follow up after the spacers arrive. I have also discovered some folding knife brass washers and Teflon washers on Amazon that would serve the purpose. My inlay project is successfully creating firewood.
  7. Hi Rick. Welcome to the Village. We "do frustration" quite well here. Bruce
  8. We owe a great Kudos to Travis. His Inkscape tutorials are awesome, especially the particulars on word art. Nice job on the sign!!! Bruce
  9. Hi Mike! Welcome to the village from Minneapolis! You are considering two outstanding machines. You will be well served by either. I look forward to what you produce for those precious new Grandkids. Bruce
  10. Welcome to the Village from Minneapolis! Bruce
  11. Welcome to the village, Napoleon. Bruce
  12. Nice looking saw table, Don. Welcome to the village! Bruce

  14. Hi Pete! Welcome to the Village from Minnesota! Bruce
  15. Well done! How long is that piece? Bruce
  16. I think that will have to happen. Thanks! Bruce
  17. Love it. I have several relatives who would find this to be "life itself". Bruce
  18. Great selection, Barb. I especially like the compass rose. i don't think I could pass that one up. Bruce
  19. I let each of them start with a practice pattern and then set up for their chosen project. The two older ones had used the saw previously and had a rudimentary understanding of the process. This was the first attempt for the 7 year-old and I needed to do a little clean-up after he had done the cutting.
  20. Thank you, Paul and Ray. I looked at the manual skipped right over it. Duh! Bruce
  21. My Ex 21 is cutting fine but the arm lift squeaks when you move it and has excess "stiction"* when you try to lower it. *(Resists movement and then breaks free until you stop movement.) The stiction has been normal to a small degree but has increased and the squeaking is a new development. Any thoughts?
  22. Had 3 of the grandkids for the weekend. The thirteen year old, Bodhi, selected Steve Good's Door Sill Sleeping Dog, the ten-year old, Harper, chose Rocking Kitties, and the seven year old, Maddox, did the heart out of the practice sheet. What a great way to bridge the years with smiles and more smiles.
  23. Very nice! Like you I chose to omit the round circles near the base of the Good pattern. I definitely like the taper you added. Bruce
  24. That is terrific. It appears that you are progressing extremely well. Don't forget to enjoy the journey. For me, I was way too hard on myself that I couldn't do the challenging things right off the bat. Then I finally learned to strive for excellence but more importantly - enjoy the journey.
  25. Impressive! Well done! Bruce
