    Thanks, Paul. Yes, I was a Navy Pilot. I flew off of the USS Ranger in Vietnam (82 missions in the Gulf of Tonkin) and off of the USS Forrestal in the Mediterranean after the war was over. I flew the E2 Hawkeye. Was your son a military pilot? Bruce

    My second Shela Landry plaque in 3/8" cherry backed with 1/4" luan plywood. I taped the both perimeters of the luan ply and the back of the plaque with frog tape before applying the flat black spray paint (luan backer) and the Watco Danish oil and the Watco Wipe-On Poly. This gave me a finish free surface for the Titebond glue. Finished with two coats of the Danish oil - let dry for 72 hours and then applied the poly. After 4 coats of the poly, I wet sanded with 600 grade wet-or-dry and used Briwax to restore a hand-rubbed luster. The second shot shows the "#4 x 1/2" brass wood "insurance" screws mid top and bottom of the backerboard. It is probably overkill but gluing a wood slab to plywood where humidity changes occur motivates me to be sure that it will all stay together if the glue joint gets tired. I used the #1 and #3 Flying Dutchman Ultra Reverse for the lettering. I am VERY impressed with these blades

    Beautiful - and courageous. I don't think I would attempt a complex pattern like that on a piece of wood that potentially holds as many "surprises". Nice work!!!

    I am impressed. I have found walnut to be very unforgiving of fine cuts. I tried to cut one of Shela Landry's plaques in walnut but the drop-outs broke with the grain at the bridge. Great job!

    I have found that using curved tip forceps speeds the peeling of blue painter's tape significantly. By using the curved side, there is no chance you will mar the surface of your work as you are picking away at all of the tiny pieces left behind.     You are absolutely right, Kevin. For me, I am able to stay aware of the time factor for those other activities but lose track of time while actually at the saw. There is something about the intense attention to tracking and anticipation of up-coming transitions that causes time to fly. Bruce

    There is an old saying particularly apropos for those in small business: "If you don't value your time, nobody else will!"

    This one has cumulative time that cannot be reset and two timers that can be reset. It appears that both timer 1 and 2 accumulate time whether selected of not so that isn't what I expected. Very simple set up for the meter. Install a power cord using the connectors supplied. install a splitter (duplex outlet) on the Ex foot switch. Plug in you saw in one of the outlets and the timer into the other. The timer records time when the foot control is depressed. It also has a Preventive Maintenance setting to alert you when you reach the hourly threshold you set. Bruce
