  1. Well done for certain.
  2. Thanks for sharing Charlie E. The software these days is very helpful to folks wanting to make their own patterns. And the free software, such as the one you listed here will certainly get folks started. I had to learn what little I know beginning with a pencil and paper, trying to duplicate what I saw in a photo, and later using a light table to trace out patterns from photos I enlarged, trying to figure out where the shadows were. While I wasn't always successful, I did enjoy the journey and suggest that folks at the very least give it a try. You never know, you might be the next master designer.
  3. Those came out really awesome. You mastered cutting two completely different styles of patterns. Wonderful work sure to be appreciated by the recipients.
  4. Don't let Woodrush fool y'all. He makes my patterns look awesome!!! Pattern designers also need folks with some serious skills to make them look good.
  5. A few weeks ago I asked the scroll saw community to make something for Memorial Day to either donate or sell and contribute the proceeds to any veteran organization of your choosing. Here is mine. If anyone can't figure out what this portrait depicts, it is the backside view of the Three Soldiers sculpture which is located at the Viet Nam Memorial in Washington D.C. I have also include a few of my patterns here if anyone would like to cut something as a tribute to those who served. I will be donating this portrait to The Highground, a Veteran's Memorial site in Neillsville Wisconsin. https://www.thehighground.us/
  6. Finally got caught up on spring chores, so I got to spend some time in the shop. Cutting my own patterns is difficult though as I can always find things I should have done differently. Maybe I am my pown worst critic?
  7. Very well done. Love seeing my patterns cut for it keeps me inspired to make more. Thanks for sharing your awesome work.
  8. I have built a number of stands/cabinets for folks for the DW788. My advice is to wait until you get it, use the saw itself for the bolt pattern, and also determine the height based on your stool or how you feel comfortable using it. You might also consider whether or not you want the saw tilted slightly toward the front, an idea many scrollers find helpful. Each one I have made for folks was slightly different based on what each individual wanted. I know you wish to get a head start, but better to be safe than have to do a retro fit later.
  9. Not sure if this can be downloaded from here, but let's try. There are a number of scrollable fonts in this file, one being Scroll Caligraphy.scroll-x (8).zip
  10. Amazing pattern!!!
  11. I was loving those classes, and as a relatively computer illiterate sort, was finding your methods easy to folow and extremely informative. Hope you can get it all uo and running soon. You rock for all you do.
  12. I live in Central Wisconsin, about 50 miles SW of Eau Claire, and may be interested in hooking up to purchase the books you have. I buy books all the time to give to newer scrollers to help get them interested and started making dust. Retired here so perhaps I can trip over and we can work something out.

Thanks Bill. Just sent you an email.

  13. Was a great show when I went a few years ago. Met some of the folks I had only previously know on social media and we all had an awesome time together. And yes, travel, lodging, etc, can get expensive, but what isn't these days. As we find that we can no longer attend due to costs, the shows begin to die off as they have all over the country. Sad times we all live in.
  14. Thought I would throw up a few cat patterns for the good folks here. Enjoy.
  15. Thank you Travis for all you do. I have begun learning how to use Inkscape and find your videos extremely helpful. One thing I would like to know though is, How do I put additional fonts into Inkscape. For example, you used Birds of Paradise in one of your videos and although I have the font loaded on my computer, and it comes up on other programs, I just can't figure out how to get access while in Inkscape. Any suggestions would surely be appreciated.

Thanks again for all your assistance to the community.

Hi Jim.  First close down Inkscape and relaunch.  Then it should see all of the fonts.

If that doesn't work, right-click on the font you want to install and choose "Install for All Users" and see if that does the trick.

Thanks Travis. Will give those a try. Crossing my fingers....I hate being so computer illiterate, but old dogs can learn new tricks.

  16. Pattern or no, you did an awesome job. Well done. Here is the pattern for anyone else who may want to cut it.
  17. If you have a wood burning iron, separating the flowers from each other and from the letters with a light line is what others have done with similar patterns. But regardless, it looks awesome.
