  1. Awesome cut. Thanks for showing it off. You should be proud. I try to let everyone know this and yet sometimes forget. You and the other folks who see some value in my patterns and do such an amazing job cutting them keep me motivated to continue attempting to make even more. Thanks for that.
  2. Awesome as always Kris.
  3. God knows that there are enough other places to discuss any subject you can name. Let's keep this scrollsaw related as sort of a safe haven, a place to get away from things so to speak. And even then, the discussions here can sometimes be a bit testy when brands, types of blades, techniques and even how to affix a pattern are discussed. Please just state your case and avoid domination or calling out others for not doing it your way. In other words, let's be adult about things and enjoy our craft and maybe even use this forum to help and encourage others.
  4. Great cut and you did a great job modifying the pattern. I do make some of my patterns into ovals as well, but never thought about doing it to this one.
  5. If it isn't Ralph, I'll be back home later this afternoon and would be happy to help you out.
  6. Sorry for your loss. Here is something simple that might work.
  7. Worthwhile causes for sure. Will try to get the creative juices flowing.
  8. I suspect that if we all were to write a list of the 10 things we are most grateful for, at least 5 of them on each list would be the same. And there is nothing wrong in that. I had an old man tell me one time to go beyond the typical list of things and find the eleventh thing you are thankful for. Once you begin to go beyond your typical answers, 11 becomes 12 and so on, ever increasing. It is really amazing how many things we have to be thankful for, although it is easier to go along with those who tell you how bad things are. Today as I attempt to consider something to add to my ever increasing list of things to be grateful for, I suppose it might be time to thank all of the folks who have allowed me to be helpful to them in whatever small way it was. Yes, I am thankful to and for them, and that I can still find something purposeful to do in each new day.
  9. I am so glad to have designed a pattern at 11 X 14 that you cut at 8 X 10. I'm impressed dude. Some of us can't see that good....LOL Well done.
  10. Hard to do patterns for folks when I am not sure of their skill level on the saw, so I try to find a medium point. Hope it works out David. If not, I have the image saved and can make it way harder. LOL
  11. Perfect Frank!
  12. Awesome job for sure.
  13. Awesome cut, but next time put some pink flamingos in there too. LOL
  14. Wonderful use of that old wood. Well done.
  15. Only 89 cuts but took me about 7 hours. Either I am slowing down or need to find a better designer.
  16. Checking prices and when I found this, I had to check my stock on hand. On Amazon, the prices range from 11 to 16 dollars a can. I have used 3M super 77 and Elmers as well over the years, but considering the price and effectiveness, this is best in my opinion. https://www.menards.com/main/paint/adhesives-glue-tape/adhesive/spray-adhesives/loctite-reg-general-performance-spray-adhesive-13-5-oz/1408027/p-1444432318712-c-7923.htm?tid=-5339201913862397164&ipos=2
  17. That is a steal. And even better than a Hawk, it is an RBI Hawk. There is a huge difference between those and what Bushton now produces. And to those who say this saw is a boat anchor, we made sales of over 40k a year at craft shows for many years with that saw. Mine was bullet proof and though some might say it isn't as user friendly as the parallel link saws, most times it is the sawer and not the saw that makes the difference.
  18. The pattern "God Bless Our Vets) was designed by Dirk Boelman and he wanted folks to cut and donate it to a Vet or a Veteran's Organization. I just talked to Karen Boelman and she said that if anyone wanted that pattern (there are two of them actually) send her an e-mail and she will send it to you. There are also awesome patterns available on that site as well, so stop and take a look. The Art Factory – Fine scroll saw and woodworking patterns and supplies
  19. Every year I challenge scrollers to make something to donate to a Veteran's Organization. I am on my way to making at least 100 of these ornaments to donate to a Veteran's Memorial where I live. They will be handed out to Vet's visiting the site. I save up all my scraps over the year and so the cost of these is almost nil. Please help these folks out even if you make one little thing and hand it to an old crusty Vet. I am sure they will appreciate it. I have included a pattern I worked up for this year, and the other one is a free pattern made by Dirk Bolman many years ago for this very purpose. Not sure if I can share that pattern though. I will check with Dirk's wife Karen at The Art Factory to see. I know many of you already do this, and we hope to see a few more joining our ranks. One little act of kindness goes a long way. Thank you all.
  20. I used 3M for years and when I couldn't find it, I resorted to this, and now use it almost exclusively. This cost me less than 7 bucks a week ago at Menards. As to shelf paper, blue painter's tape, and sticky labels, the old school method is sanding the top piece with 320 or finer, wipe the piece with a damo cloth with denatured alcohol and then spray the back of the pattern with a repositionable spray. Wait 5 to 10 seconds for it to tack up, and apply it to the wood. I have been doing it this way for, well let's just saw a couple of years and even in projects with 1000 cuts, I have never had any problem with lifting. Some say that the other methods lubricate the blade and such, but as they say, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. This old guy will keep on keepin' on with old school.
  21. An amazing body of work. Love your comment about it being an art. That feeling puts one in a Zen place.
  22. Awesome.
  23. I don't believe Papa Dynamite is in this group, but he does have a face book page if I remember correctly. Just checked. It's Papa Dynamite wood art on face book
  24. I am interested to see how your experiment works out. Hope it works out for you and am looking forward to seeing your end project.
