  1. That was always my thoughts on them. Maybe if I used one I would find a use for it but I can’t see ever needing something like that. ( especially for the price they ask) Not to confused with a drum sander. I want one of them. that I would use all the time and is on my short list soon.
  2. That’s awesome!!
  3. Some of the wood my saw mill guys gives me is beautiful. I purchase most of what I get and I always offer to pay for anything he is giving me. I don’t want him to feel as though I’m there to chisel off him. But he gives some really nice stuff that he says would only end up being firewood anyway. Great for small bowl blanks and intarsia.
  4. Ha That’s funny! I live in old forge pa. Born and raised here. I saw that saw for sale a few weeks ago. If I remember correctly it was in “Austin heights “ section of town. I probably know the guy who sold it. Then again at one time I knew everyone in town but there’s been a lot of transplants over recent years. Did you have any pizza? It’s the pizza capital of the world u know Good luck with your saw.
  5. I made this box from SSW spring 2014 issue 54. I’m sure some are curious about the saw. I can’t really give a review of the saw . I just don’t have enough experience using different saws to be fair. The only other scroll saw Iv ever touched was my porter cable. Not really a fair comparison even though I love my PC. I never used an Excalibur, secco, Hegner, king, exc..... so I haven’t any benchmarks. i will say it’s seems to be a great saw of high quality. Solid, smooth, very little if any vibration. As long as it holds up I’m very satisfied and don’t see any reason to upgrade from here. Exactly what I needed.
  6. Beautiful job! I always like ur style.
  7. Well I’m not sure if I’m a hobby woodworker or a hobby wood collector. I love to buy / harvest wood. Then I never want to use it. I like to save it. If I’m going to make a project out of cherry I could have 200 bd ft but I won’t use it I go buy more to use then I try use as little as possible and save that. Also if I have beautiful pieces of wood I never want to use it. I always want to save it. I’m looking to put up a small shed out back just for wood storage. But I don’t want to use up the wood to build it. I guess I’mmmm mr. wood miser. oh yeah and all my studded walls have wood slats nailed up so I can store long thin cut offs in . Most are absolute garbage. But I won’t throw them out. “Mmm. Better keep that might need it sometime.”Even though I’ll never find it again or even remember I have it.
  8. Yeah I get what ur saying Jim and I’m not trying to say this in an argumentative manner and I shouldn’t have ever posted any of this. But I’ll say one more thing. Do you think if I had a trademark out there homeland security would protect it? yeah they would if I were able to funnel them a bundle of cash. Maybe a beach house or donation to one of there personal “non profit “ yeah right! Organizations. I’m not saying they should allow someone to rip off trademarks. Just saying there is always agenda backed by dirty money with our government.....always,always,always and one more always!
  9. It’s a good thing homeland security took some time away from keeping us safe so they can bust some retirees making some emblems. Let the NFL patrol on there own. You know someone in our government in charge of this got some sort of kickback or side deal from big money organization to push this. Do nothing government jobs in our useless government.
  10. Yeah both of you are 100 percent correct in ur comment. But I figured I would give it a try and wouldn’t u know the first blade I tried cut like a dream. So I knew it was possible but like I say blades after we’re hit and miss. But I knew I was pushing that blades limits. Iv also had the same experience cutting thinner stock too. Like I say tho not a lot of experience with them.
  11. Maybe I should post some contact info for some of you guys who too old to even buy green bananas . maybe ur children will sell me ur tools dirt cheap? So I say to u older fellows. Feel free to buy the best! just jking.
  12. I found the exact same situation with them. Grant it. I only did a couple small projects with them. So I don’t have a ton of experience. I was cutting 3/4 pine. I wanted as little kerf as possible. One blade would cut like a dream and last forever and the next could break in seconds. I kind of chalked it up to inconsistencies in production quality due to them being so small probably not much tolerance between a good one and a bad one. Just a guess on my part.
  13. Hahah. yeah exactly.! A hockey stick.
  14. I sometimes have same issue. What I do tho and seems to work is use a pair of needle nose pliers and a regular pair and straighten the end and align the straight ends at same time. Maybe that will help you. The biggest problem I have (only with the really small blades) After I put the blades in my clamps for the first cut the end of the blade is all kinked and If I’m using Really small entry holes. I can’t feed it in the next cut. I hope my new saw doesn’t do that. We’ll see when it comes.
  15. I use both flat and spiral. I am equally as bad at following a line with both. But when I’m using spiral blades I usually don’t try to cut right on the line like on do with flat. I stay a tiny bit away on waste side then come back and sneak up on the line shaving at it. I know that wouldn’t work for you speed guys it is time consuming. But when I want to be accurate. That works great for me. I’m always trying to get better with both types.

  17. You just posted this as I was typing my previous response. I cant say for sure. But if all specs are same and that letter A is just dropped off last digit probably good. But I would try to find out for sure before I went ahead with it. Maybe contact Delta or the manufacturer of the capacitor. If you can’t find anything else I would try it. Google the part # see what turns up.
  18. You may find it locally (granger ) or any plumbing heating/electrical supplier in ur area. Appliance parts supplier also. But Iv had the best luck finding parts by typing in the part # into google.
  19. Iv calling it both Masonite and hardboard. We used it years ago for forming radius in concrete walks and driveways. It it didn’t work good but that’s what we uses. It was never rigid enough and you had to put them in same mourning of pour cuz it would get wet onvernight and warp up. Later I started using plastic forms they cost way more but I never used Masonite again. Now I use it on most of my work bench tops I guess like a workbench table cloth Its easy and cheap to replace it when it gets all junked up. I also have a piece of it cut to fit on my scroll saw top as a zero clearance top. Works great for both.
  20. Yeah I was thinking that also . Not about the air space which is a good point but I think I would have more control with sponge rather than dipping the whole project in glue. I’ll give it a try sometime. Thx
  21. Kevin I have heard of the method you use. I have never tried it tho. It seems like a great idea but what I’m afraid of is squeeze out all around the small fretwork areas. How do you deal with that. I may try try the spray method. Currently I just put glue on the larger areas away from edges not to get any squeeze out and do not glue small areas. Do you have a good solution for dealing with squeeze out? Thank you.
  22. Hmm thx for the info. But I’m not a Facebook kind of guy.
  23. Since I discovered Contact paper not really looking after I started scrolling. I use nothing else.
  24. I know his is site is shut down well not shut down but his patterns are not for sale and from what I can see is bearwood bought his paterns. Looking at the bearwood site tho I can only see a fraction of his patterns. Just wondering if anyone has any more info on this. Maybe he only sold the right for a handful of them if so can I find the others somewhere? Or maybe not for sale at all? Not sure.
