  1. Cut these today out of Purple Heart. Bought the patterns this last weekend from Sheila laundry designs.
  2. Finished these today. Cut them a few weeks ago and put the backers on today.
  3. Found it. The post is from badbob.
  4. I read a post the other day on stack cutting and thought I’d try it. I can’t find the post again to credit the person for the idea. I used reclaimed oak flooring from a house that’s getting renovated.
  5. I got some projects cut during quarantine.
  6. I have seen bowls posted on this site for some really nice bowls. They had a website where the patterns can be purchased but I can’t find it. I should have saved it my favorites when I was looking a while back. Can anyone tell me what that website is? Thanks
  7. Just finished this one. I cut it out of Purple Heart. I think it turned out good considering it was the first time I used this wood. One think I learned, it seemed to be really hard on blades. Used more blades than I usually do on a project this size. I wish I would have kept track, I am curious just how many I used.
  8. My wife made this yesterday it’s her first project using a scroll saw
  9. Yesterday I had the opportunity to sell my stuff again at the VA hospital. This was my second day, the first was about a month ago. After expenses, I came home with around $450, so I think I did pretty good. It also opened up more opportunities for me. A lot of people loved my work, and I was invited to sell at other VA’s in our region. It was just dumb luck that I was set up on the day this hospital was hosting a meeting with all the regional canteen directors. I made quite a few contacts I will be following up with this week. I would saw I did good. Aside from sells, I made opportunities. Hopefully I can make this work.
  10. I recently submitted an application to sell my produces at the VA hospital. They have an area outside the food court area for vendors to sell there stuff. Most item I’ve seen for sale have been hats and other military stuff, but since I make a lot of military items, I thought I’d give it a shot. I did good for my first time. I haven’t figured up what I’ve sold and my expenses yet, but I know I’ve done better than an craft show I’ve did this year. Should have taken pictures but I will next time.
  11. How do you get a license for that?
  12. Had a question for all of you that make puzzles. How do you apply your finish and what type do you use? I dipped my pieces and let them dry but it did not come out good.
  13. My first puzzle. I used a #5 blade which may be too big. The pieces are a bit loose and I may want to tighten it up a little. What size blade do some of you other puzzle makers use?
  14. Love them both. Can you tell us where to get the patterns?
  15. I got more information about the pieces. He got th boards to make the deck of his trailer about 10 years ago. They are a full 2" thick rough sawn, so I'll have to resaw . And about 8" wide.
  16. A friend said he has some ash boards approximately 2feet long. Said I could have them if I wanted them or he was tossing them out. Of course I said I'd take them, but never cut ash. Just wondering what to expect.
  17. A few projects I finished yesterday. The last one still needs the backer, but I ran out of material.
  18. I got tired of looking at my growing collection of "scrap wood" yesterday. I sorted it all by wood type and size and started applying different patterns that I have that will fit. I'm finally going to get rid of it and make some nice stuff in the process. Ill get started after my coffee. Feel free to stop in for a cup. Pot is always on.
  19. All four patterns came from Sheila Landry Designs.
  20. A few projects I finished yesterday
  21. New saw is here here, now I just need time to set it up. 24hrs in a day just isn't enough sometimes.
  22. I just bought a new Jet scroll saw. Picking it up next week. Really excited, don't know how I'm going to make it a week.
  23. I've been a member of a crafters association in my area for about a year now. We sponsor two craft shows a year and it's a 100% juried handcrafted show. Vendors do try to slip in the flee market crap but are politely asked to remove it. If not removed, they don't get invited back. We usually get 80+ vendors, over 100 both spaces, and a waiting list of over 20 vendors waiting for a spot. But I've been to other juried shows that let in anything to fill a booth.
  24. I was in Lowes yesterday buying wood and bought what I would have believed to be the worst piece of oak ever on the rack. It was 4' long and 10" wide (9.5) but I only needed 45" and about 8" wide. Took some measurements with my tape measure and found that every defect in this board could be cut out for the project I was doing. Talked to one of the representatives and he took 30% off the price. Showed my military ID at the check out, and got another 10%. Already have it cut to sizes I need, and every piece I'm cutting is perfect. I think I got a pretty good deal on the wood. wish I would have took photos of that board, but I'll post photos of finished product.
  25. I've been thinking of selling on line for a while. If you don't mind, I have a few questions. First, how do you figure shipping cost? And how do you ship items that don't fit well into a standard box. I just sold the second amendment plaque I made. It measured approximately 14.25x 24. If I had to ship it, I don't know how I would pack it.
