  1. yea kevin I really thinl you are KOOL to the BONE MAN wished I would have been there when you chucked the 16" Sakura could have resold it and made a little mad money
  2. I know what you are talking about, yes its a 20 plus something year old saw. Sakura was bought out by PS Wood Machine in 1990. But this saw is built tough like an other upper end well made saw. When I buy tool I usually buy vintage. repair and tweak here and there and bingo I have the equivalent of the PS Wood 21" scroller for $799.00. The national average selling price for this saw in a survey I did is $237.00. PS Wood said they selling for about a $100.00 they will buy a good one, refurb it and sell it for about $500.00. I am getting this saw for $150.00. Have seen it and it is prestene unlike the vintage 1982 Delta band saw for resawing I bought which looked kinda rough paint wise, but had good bones ran as smooth and quiet like a dream. New tires and blade a little elbo grease and I now have a resawer for my chestnut, cherry, red oak and walnut. All resawed with a $100.00 saw thats sells ready to go on ebay for $450.00 to $650.00. I just wanted to share with you my thinking on buying vintage parts available quality used equipment I really have been doing it with all my woodworking equipment and saved a fortune.
  3. thank you for the information. With the original blade holder can you still use the saw OK. I could see it cold be a slow go with blade change for inside cuts, but is it something one can deal with for a while.? I am familiar with the quick change but will have to hold off for a while to purchase it.
  4. Steve Good at scroll saw workshop blogspot might be of some help seems like a wise at this sort of thing
  5. I am looking at one of these saws I know it is about 27 years old but the pics on craigslist make it look brand new. I like the idea of induction motor and no reostat. What I have foud out through my search on the internet make it appear that the cut is about as aggressive as a Dewalt not much vibration and trouble free. Does anyone have any experience or advice
  6. KOOL KEVIN KOOL
  7. i have fought with dust like the rest of you guys. I Found this guy buy the name Phillip Thein he invented the Thein Baffel. You can find it on Line. For $14.00 for a used 20 gallon plastic drum with lid 2-2" PVC fittings, 3- 2 " PVC rubber pipe connectors and a couple tubes of silcone caulk I made it in an afternoon. I get almost no dust in vacum bag using a 5 micron filter( too cheap to buy a 1 micron bag). I use a old WAP German made vacum probably equivalent to a fine today. This has worked for me quiet effective and best of all controls dust. The other thing I DID WAS TO HUNT THRIFT STORES FOR A AIR PURIFER AND BOUGHT A HUNTER FOR $6.00 AND HUNG IT FROM THE CEILING OF MY 10" X 14' SHOP MY CALCULATIONS ON HIGH IT FILTERS THE AIR 6 TIMES /HOUR. CHEAP AND WORKS VERY WELL. HAS A TIMER I SET TO 4 HOURS WHEN LEAVING THE SHOP TO IT REALLY DOES ITS THING. i HAVE ASTHMA AND NEED ALL THE BREATHING HELP i CAN GET. WAS ABOUT TO GIVE UP WOODWORKING BECAUSE OF IT BUT THESE TWO THINGS SAVED THE DAY AND LET ME STAY IN THE GAME. IT IS SOMETHING REALLY AFFORDABLE. JUST FRUIT FOR THOUGHT

  17. Stand Measurement. Top. Front 11 1/8" Back 5 3/8" Distance front to back 24 3/16" I would make this 24" Bottom. Front 22 3/16" Back 14 3/4" Heighth. 31" I am 6' tall and add 2 x 6 to the top and this is just the right height for me standing. Piece of advice there are no bearings on the piece of metal connecting the two back arms . I grease these with # 2 bearing grease every 10 hours of use. An old time scrolled who is my mentor told me to do this so as not to lose the side to side motion in the blade caused by this area wearing. I guess it works blade is still a nice fine line when running. I use my say at least 25 hours per week.
  18. I use a harbor a little hf $15 portable drill press with two 1"x4"(aprox) runners on the Bottom. And,a small rechargeable screw driver for $9 from hf with 1/16th hex bit works, great for me and less than $30. Really helped me get 90 degree holes exactly where I want them,
