  1. Thank you for the recommendation FDUR #3 came in and i am able to cut so much better and cleaner and faster because i dont have to keep replacing the broken blade
  2. Thank you very much for the suggestions. I just placed an order and cant wait to recieve FDUR #3.
  3. I have been stack cutting shielalandry snow flakes ornaments for the dec craft fair and find that the bosch blade (28tpi, 0.22") keeps breaking. I like the way it cuts amd easy to turn but stack cutting 4 1/8 dulls them fairly quickly and they break :(. Buy those at lowes since i have been trying a few different setup on saw and that breaks them :(. What do you use to stack cut or 1/2" that also allows good turning for delicate design?
  4. How do you brand the product? I really do not want to spend a ton of money on custom burning plate :(
  5. Thanks everyone. I really appreciate the input. Will take pictures and share after the event (Dec 2).
  6. Local school is having a arts fair (Dec 2) and I mustered the courage up to sign up. I am excited and nervous too. Any advice would be highly recommended. I do have a few questions: - I am hoping to show a variety of possibility: Lamps, Plaques, keepsake boxes, maybe a few ornaments. Amy other you would recommend? - I am hoping to design a simple business card. Any advice here? - Any recommendations on how to display?
  7. Created 2 more. Like thr lamp part but not liking how the Danish oil finish came out uneven :(
  8. Thanks everyone! Hawkeye, I used pumpkin carving patterns. Two of them (witch and the wizard) are for private use only so I wont be selling them but a lot of other free pumpkin carving pattern out there that would work great! :-)
  9. These are amazing!!!
  10. Thank you everyone. Paul/Scrappile, I completely understand where you are coming from. I have worked in technology industry and traveled the world and have made good money too and certainly dont think I can ever make that much unless I am willing to get back in that rat race. I have a 3 year old and giving up my career to be there for him was something I couldnt put a price tag on. I also know that not working has had a huge impact on how we live so I was hoping to achieve two things. First my thirst to learn and create both of which are satisfied scrolling and second supplement to income in anyway I can that will help me. There is an arts fair where I live every first saturday, I will get out to the next one and then figure out my marketing strategy. Being quite new to this, I heavily rely on all your experienced feedback and all of the input has been tremendous in helping me continue working hard to improve. I love the aspect that I am creating these. I have always wanted too and the fact that I am is pure joy :-)
  11. Thanks Len for the vote of confidence. I am quite nervous about putting them out there because I feel my motivation would be affected if nobody is interested. I am really hoping I can sell them to cover my interest in learning scroll sawing and continue making more things and save up to get a decent scroll saw.
  12. I struggled with staining these appropriately and finally got it done to "this will be ok" mode. Not intending to sell these particular ones since I plan to personally use them but wanted to take pictures to see if there is a interest in local community for these types of lamp. What do you think I can list them for?
  13. Some halloween lamps. Have to finish two of them.
  14. How do you drill out the circles for the ornaments? Do you scroll it or use something else?
  15. Thank you everyone for sharing how you stack cut. I hope to try it
  16. Would love to hear any words of wisdom if you have them for me. I certainly know to check before I spend on a nice scroll saw. I hope to find a way to recoup some money before i can so want to make a few nice things I can sell locally.
  17. I am hoping to find something between cellophane and stencil sheet thickness. There are light filters gel sheets but not sure that is what i can use. I am getting used to #3 blade. It moves very differently from bigger blade. So made some small stuff and will post pics as soon as i have them finished
  18. So i am working on building a simple lamp and wondering what kind of film you use on backside of fretwork to soften the light bulb? I keep looking but not sure where i can find flexible one and also possibly comes in different colors. Any pointers will be very much appreciated.
  19. How would you keep the different pieces together when you stack cut? Do you glue an extra section and then saw it off after scrolling to separate them together? I would love to try stack cut 2 pieces of 1/4 ply?
  20. Thanks for the post. I had to file down a new screw to fit. The difficulty was to align the saw within reach of the screw end. It was just taking way too much time especially the small #3 blade. I just found it frustrating because the process of aligning was not simple but also i was new at this (pin end was simple, it hooks). For the design i picked (a lot of inside cuts), it got annoying real fast because i was spending a lot more time fixing the damn blade than sawing. But as i do more i am getting used to it and yes its still time consuming but i will deal with it
  21. Thanks for adding information. I have another newbie question. I have No 3 olson blade but they are so delicate that I am bending them while changing slots. Is that okay? I can certainly feel like I need to use a different turning speed when using number 3 blades.
  22. Thank you Kevin. I agree on the backer board. Right now I am just cutting out of 1/4pieces (available cheap in big box so i had bought a big sheet to practice). What size blades do you use most? Also what brand works best for you?
  23. Stunning work!! What scroll saw and blade did you use to make that, Alex? Where do you get the backing material (the sticky film)?
  24. I thought it may work but looks like it has the same screw type to hold the blade down. in my currext saw the blade needs to be in a very specific place to get it to clamp properly and it is in the middle of the space so having to fiddle with it and screw to make it hold is a very frustrating part. I wonder if the conversion kit will solve that problem, not sure though.
  25. I have been trying to figure out which blade is right for most of what I am doing. What plain end blade would you use to do a pattern like these? http://www.stevedgood.com/hummerart.pdf http://www.stevedgood.com/filigreehummer.pdf
