I was so looking forward to scrolling that i jumped on the one i saw. I was also misinformed about the saw and saw it after i got it home and next morning :(. Well atleast i dint lose more that 55$. I really want to make this easier or maybe i will get used to it. I will save up for a nice one as my skill progresses.

I finally got screws to fit the plain end blades but it is so difficult to get them adjusted right and then screwed in and adjust tension on this 10 year old ryobi. Not sure if its because its a old saw or is that how it is in all modern saws? Getting the tension right is harder. Any tips would be appreciated. Getting the blade on and off is so time consuming:(

The screws that support pinless dint come with it and they are discontinued. They are not regular screws but taper off. We are going to file the regular screw to see if that works. I got some pinless no 3 to try intricate design and cant wait to try it. The blade looks so delicate though and i worry i dont have enough experience to use them.

Thank you everyone for the feedback, encouragement and suggestion on finish. I am so addicted to this and hope make more sawdust as I learn. Very thankful to this forum and all of you for support. Having a place to go for questions and feedback is what keeps the thirst for learning strong.

Been busy learning the Ryobi 162vs with pin end blade. Have to finish them off with oil. What kind of finish would look better? Will appreciate feedback on it.

Thank you all for the feedback! I do have Miter Saw and Circular saw but dont think it will help beyond basic cuts. I will try the online store to see if I ca get some wood.

I have been using birch plywood (1/4", easy to get cheap in big hardware stores) to get some practice but realize they are a bit fragile when it comes to doing something that has holes that are too close. I am wondering what type of wood most of you scroll in for practice but also for things that you may sell/gift? Which is a good place to source the wood? I appreciate all responses.

So I bought the saw on craigslist that was advertised for SC163VS and after getting it home last night, I learnt it is a very old SC162vs, rusty. I bought it for $55. Not sure this was a good buy atall. I am unable to find any manual for it online. Does anyone know if this accepts plain end blades?

Scrappile, I wish I had found this forum before I bought that saw. I am buying a used Ryobi 163VS (since its the only one available for the price I can afford at the moment). Moto-saw indeed was a huge mistake. It is very limited in terms of blades and no options to convert either. I hope to learn from everyone here. Very excited to embark this journey and learning is so stimulating that I just cant seem to stop wanting to do it. I certainly appreciate direct feedback. Will soon post some basic panel I was able to do using Dremel Motosaw. I am very excited to learn on the Ryobi 163vs that I am hoping to get later today

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your advice. I am certainly addicted to it and really want to learn to do different things. I will certainly be asking more questions as I learn. I am trading in my Dremel Moto-saw for a used Ryobi 163vs. Hoping I will have more choice in blades that way. It has been inspiring to watch the work everyone has done here.

Thank you everyone. I really appreciate responses. Dremel Motosaw is fairly limited so I am going to buy a used Ryobi 163VS. I am hoping to learn more of intricate stuff but also do some big panels. I will try the spiral blade to see if that works for me, if the Ryobi 163vs takes it. I am buying it because its the only one available used.

Hello All, Sincwe I am some what limited in the saw blade sizer with my dremel motosaw, i decided to do some fretwork. I cut out panels separately and put them together. But I wonder how mos people would work on a large panel. Are you limited by size depending on the saw clearance? Please help me understand. Thanks In Advance.

Thanks MrsN. I am still learning how I can buy smaller saws for the moto-saw which requires pin end. I am assuming olson's pin-end saws will fit.

Hello All, I am new here and just picked up a Dremel Moto-saw MS20-01 to learn. How can I compare the pics that came with it (MS51) to #3? I seem to break them easily while trying the turns as gently as I can using the loop method. Any advice would be appreciated. I also just realized that it uses pin-end blades only so assuming that the intricate designs is hard since the hole that need to be drilled in between wood is going to be larger?
