  1. hey paul, here is one of my fab 4... did it the first week of my OT... before i got too tired to see... lol
  2. yall are some great people. i know i have not posted in a while dew to 12+ hours overtime a week for the last 6 weeks and spending days off at my saw. i learn something every time i come here and feel encouraged to keep cutting even though most of what i do is not "common" or traditional. please know that i feel you all have a positive influence not only on me, but each other as well. i guess what i am trying to say is, thank you for being here, you are more of a help than you may know. -chris
  3. i have not used it but have been looking for a material that is black all the way through. did they have black PVC???
  4. the thorn in my side has been making "good" frames. with building stock for the con in oct i needed a frame for every book cover so... i made a jig to make frames fast. with super glue and accelerator i did 11 frames in about 15min 1/4" luan cut into 1/8" strips. and finished on a cover with jewelry box corners to hide my sins... I WAS FRAMED!!!! -chris
  5. best $2.50 i ever spent for the best portable super glue holder ever. it also works great for holding on to other things too!!! really it does!!!
  6. but am happy with why.... and off the wall!!! Jimmy Hendrix light box.mp4 BBSoon
  7. i've seen lots of CONs on youtube.... this will be my first in person
  8. thank you. i will have about 50 covers and 3 times that in "traditional" mounted and framed items. haven't had much time fire the net.
  9. i save all my patterns in my gmail. i click compose, address it to myself , attach the pattern, and click send. i move the received email to a pattern folder and delete the sent email to save space.
  10. does this help.... i have found it hard to put in words... lol
  11. been busy when i get home and days off from my job.lots of prep and 10 covers ready to cut.BIG thanks to my wonderful wife for helping me mount the covers.we make a great team. Dollar tree shower curtains hold up better than clear painters drop cloth.
  12. I had found a few places to sell my stuff on consignment. one that is about 40mls away sold one last week (prince) so we went to get the cash. in the time it took us to drive to the bookstore they sold a second (petty). it turns out that the woman that got tom is a "comic com" promoter. anyway she is setting up the first "Paducah Galaxy Of Heroes Con" and is giving me a table free of charge. it inspired me, so this is my work for the day. i am so excited!!!
  13. wife asked me to do a "joker" and i just happened on to the background paper. bought 5 sheets... going back to get more for a show in Oct.
  14. i have to many projects going at one time. here is the one i just finished.
  15. i am sure i am not the only one so i would like to brag about my wife ( spouse ). without her support and moreover her encouragement in my scrolling endears it would not be so much fun. she always has an kind word and gentile push to help me go where my heart and saw sends me. today she gave me this stamp.... she told me "you should put this on the back of all of your projects to remind yourself to create what brings you joy and to inspire others." she is more than i deserve and all that i could hope for. so.... 3 Cheers for those that have our backs and our hearts! (thank you " your spouse's name here "I Love You)
  16. i think it turned out to be a good deal. looked almost brand new with only a few scratches, had to rebuild my crosscut sled but worth it. everything for $200
  17. congrats man!!! looks great.
  18. WOW!
  19. as part of payment for my "new to me" table saw was "Iron Man". Tuesday i picked up the cover at the comic book store and glued it to the wood. it also got 2 coats matte sealant. then it got another coat before work yesterday. last night after work it was cut, glued, got 2 more coats of high gloss finish, and 2 more this morning, delivering this afternoon. life is good!
  20. wonderful Rocky!! love my hawk.... i'm happy for you.
  21. i can walk for hours with no complaints from my bum knee. but standing still for only 3 to 5 minutes and my knee gives out from pain. i had no room in my tiny shop for a chair so i bought a folding stool. my wife is learning to scroll letters and prefers to stand. so 1 vote for each here.
  22. Hey rocky, I am still and Andrew Sisters, and John Denver fan as well. Just not much call for that around here. I stack cut for 1 for me and if the others sell , great. If i acted on all the ideas i have for this stuff i would have to have someone else scroll for me cause i would never have the time. Lol I love this stuff
  23. for custom portraits i make them to fit a standard frame. that helps me set a standard price. i am learning more on how to make frames by making them to fit the project.
  24. just from this test video i have 2 ppl that want me to make one for them when i finish the design, i ordered more lights so we shall see.
  25. i have about 15 kinds of blades. i made this holder. with free wood and a forstner bit.
