  1. Ray, So sorry to hear of your loss. I Pray that he is with the Lord. Bob
  2. I was looking at that adjustment feature before I decided to buy the Delta. I may be wrong but I can't see how it can change the blade angle as that angle is fixed by the pivots at the blade end of the arm. I believe that rotating the motor may adjust the length of the stroke. I found that by cutting into a 2" thick piece that the blade was contacting the top first, I filed back the slot in the upper blade holder until the blade contacted the center first as the blade arcs through the stroke. With saws of that design there has to be more back and forth movement of the blade than in the Hawk type saw because the pivot point is so much closer to the blade. Bob
  3. Lost my 12" miter saw to hurricane Florence, bought a 10" Hitachi and love the ease of moving it around. Lost my cheap table saw also and a friend gave me a 20 year old grizzly 3hp that had never been used it was never set up properly after I tuned it up it is one smooth saw. Bob
  4. I have almost the same situation, having a house built with 24 by 29 garage. I am seriously thinking of heavy plastic for a divider which would be more for AC as it has been very hot this year in NC. 2 hours in the garage and soaked in sweat. Bob
  5. Sorry if my post seemed negative. Just trying to save someone from having a bad experience. Bob
  6. I would caution the use of starting fluid due to the fact that it is EXTREMELY Flammable, unless you are outdoors.
  7. My Delta arrived today via UPS . I got home about 2 hrs ago and put it together for a test all seems good blade alignment spot on does not seem too aggressive had to extend rear of stand a couple of inches. Definitely need to run my sander on the table as it is too rough for me, it does not have the rock in the table as others have reported. not impressed with the arm holdup, will still use my 1x2 block. All in all I am happy with it. Hope others have as good experience with delivery. Bob
  8. I installed new bearings in my Dewalt saw motor that had been submerged, greased all the saw bearings and it ran like new for about 3 hours. Then it started to hesitate and stop/start. Decided it is finished and started to search for new saw. I ordered a Delta from Home depot on sale for $299, I had been planning to buy a Pegas but at my age (80) I could not justify the $500 difference. I also had been looking for used Hawk or Hegner but nothing available anywhere near here. Bob
  9. That particular board is used for outside trim on rough sawn siding. Bob
  10. Many Thanks to All, Yes I could use the bearing list. I should have measured the bearings when I had the motor apart. I put it back together to test the circuit board, switch, potentiometer and motor to determine whether to scrap it or not. Ray that looks to be the motor bearings. May also need some sleeve and needle bearings. Bob
  11. Does anyone happen to know what number bearings fit the Canada made dewalt motor? I have finally got some time to check out the scroll saw after finishing the house from the Florence storm. Motor was locked solid, disassembled and broke the bearings free. Motor runs full and slow speeds but is noisy looks like I will need to change the connecting rod bearing also. This saw was upside down in four feet of brackish water. I am hoping most of the sleeves will be ok as I had lubed them with the synthetic grease last year. I thought I was going to have to buy a Pegas but being old and cheap I need to try and fix the DW first. Bob
  12. Les Trex is a deck material that is 3/4" thick and about 6" wide, it is made from recycled water bottles. It cuts nicely but slowly the dust is more like tiny pellets. I replaced the treated wood deck that fell apart in 5 years with Trex and after 5 years it looks like it was put down yesterday. Bob
  13. I have made some outdoor signs, which I cut in trex. It is not severely affected by weather, need to cut slow so it does not glue itself behind the blade. Bob
  14. Ray I am like you in that I hate to send stuff to the dump, this has saved a lot of 20 mile trips to Lowes. I have been fulltime RVing in my driveway in our 26' travel trailer since hurricane Florene while rebuilding our townhouse. The upper shelves and bins in garage stayed dry, Dewalt scroll saw was on a table that was upended when my air compressor floated under it. I with help from a few church friends have done everything but the sheetrock which is all 5/8ths. The guy I was able to hire gave me a sob story so I did not fire him. Big mistake. There is so much devastation here in New Bern that contractors are booked well over a year. I will soon be looking for a new SS soon as I am almost finished with the repairs. Have already replaced a lot of tools out of necessity.
  15. Kevin that is beautiful work. Are those signs your own designs or are there patterns available? I am new at this and have tried gimp but this old brain is kind of slow with computers Bob
  16. I am new at scrolling. After borrowing a friends older craftsman I purchased a Dewalt type 1 from Craig's list. It appeared as like new or perfect restoration except for saw cuts around the hole in table and a little prior corrosion on table. It sounded as quiet as a sewing machine. Having had a long career with trucks and metal working machinery I felt the need to disassemble and inspect. To my delight the inside looked as clean as the outside and most of the bearings looked like they had adequate lube, I added a touch of the synthetic as recommended. From seeing the insides of the machine it appears to have had little use, I am thinking the cuts on the table were caused by a too loose spiral blade as they were in a circular pattern around the hole. I made a Prayer changes things plaque, my wife asked if she could give to a friend for 96th birthday. Her friends all want to buy them. I am 78 yrs old and do not want to become entrapped, I want to do what I want when I want. Thanks for listening Bob
