I put these together for a little scroll saw competition. As luck would have it, i took first place. I made these pokemon using Padauk, Yellow-Heart, Maple, bloodwood, poplar and wenge for the backer; No stains or paints involved. These range from roughly 3" - 5"; I attached magnets to the back and have them displayed on my fridge.

Thanks Iggy - I owe you a debt of gratitude for sharing your insight when I was purchasing my saw. If it wasn't for you, I may have purchased a different one and ended with an inferior results. The power of kindness goes a long way - Thank you

Thanks for the kindness!

These are characters from the TV show Futurama and Star Trek (as seen on futurama). The finished piece measures 15”x19” and consists of multiple layers that establish depth. The characters are all natural wood, no paints or stains used for them; I used ebony, wenge, yellow-heart, saeple, maple, oak and bloodwood. The frame is made of cherry, circuit boards and epoxy, the “tanning” room (based off my own illustration whoop-whoop) is made of airbrushed oak, stained glass, padauk, maple and walnut. This took a little over 100 hours to complete. Build Album: https://imgur.com/a/BdqCG6k Reddit Long Video.mp4

I now have Lisa and Bart finished up. I made Bart using yellow-heart, padauk, maple, wenge (for back layer) and walnut (airbrushed blue). Here is the build album if you are interested: https://imgur.com/gallery/R9KCn0H

Thanks Dave!

I made Hank Hill from the show King of the Hill. I used walnut for the hair, oak for the skin, maple for the shirt and eyeballs, ebony doe the glasses and Wenge for the back silhouette layer.

Thank you Marg, I'll keep at them!

My wife would love the RN sign! (shoot, I love the RN sign) What would we do without nurses?! Great work.

Lisa Simpson stands 4" tall and is made with natural wood tones, no stains or paint. I used Yellowheart, Padauk and Maple. I am making magnets of each of the Simpsons. I have Lisa finished and the rest of the family to go. I'm trying out a new thing where I make a short animation of the dry fitting, let me know what your thoughts are with that; I want to know if it is something I should keep doing. Here is a link to my build album; let me know what you think! https://imgur.com/gallery/xweCZGU Assembly.mp4

Thank you - I'm finally falling into my groove; I'm looking forward to where this journey takes me. -
Futurama was one of my favorite TV shows growing up. A fellow scroller and I decided to make a magnet set with the intention to give them away in the near future. I made this out of Padauk, maple, oak, wenge and ebony. I have more information in this build album. If you are interested in winning this, follow me on my Instagram at Fischstickswoodwork. Feel free to ask any questions - Thank you ** Edit ** I forgot to include the link to the build album: https://imgur.com/gallery/68Cyf2q Dan

This was 70+ hours of planning, cutting, finishing and framing. Simply put, Waluigi is a bad form of Luigi (one of the Mario brothers). In this scene I created, Waluigi is having daydreams about destroying the Mario Brothers. I used a variety of hardwoods to pull this off. I did use a touch of paint to airbrush the eyes, the blue pants and the Green clothes for Luigi. The LED light is mounted behind the stained glass and it allows the user to control the color of the dreamscape. Let me know if you have any questions. In what is becoming standard practice for me, here is the build album https://imgur.com/gallery/8lPxDJ1

Bob's Burgers (cartoon) themed mirror I made.

If you ask me, they are a necessary tool. It's hard to produce detailed work if you can't see what your cutting! My magnifying lamp took over for the scroll saw but I still use those glasses for various other tasks in the shop. -

hahaha, nice one -
I was going for a funny conversation piece with this one. If you are not familiar, that character is from a TV show called Bob's Burgers. It is supposed to look like she is going to clobber whoever is looking in the mirror. I did not use any stains, I cut the mirror to size in my shop. Here are some pics and the build album. http://imgur.com/a/aKuJ5xb

My first project was a big one. I am working on developing my technique of creating layered cartoon style scroll saw art. I spent roughly 40 hours on this project. The dimension (including frame) are 15.5"x21.5". I used naturally colored wood with no stains along with stained glass to pull this off. Aside from the silhouette layers, I did not use any paints. As for the woods, I used Padauk, Yellowheart, Walnut, Bloodwood, Oak, Figured Maple, Sapele, Aspen, Tigerwood and Mahogany. If you want to see more of my process - here is a link to the full build album https://imgur.com/gallery/BeB2nKi.

Everyone say hello to Mario; my homage to the game and level that started it all for many of us in gaming; Super Mario Bros Level 1-1. I cut this by hand using my scroll saw. The woods are all naturally colored without the use of stains. I used Padauk, Yellowheart, Walnut, Bloodwood, Oak, Figured Maple, Sapele, Aspen, Tigerwood and Mahogany. Check out the album to see how I made it (https://imgur.com/a/BeB2nKi). A special thanks to the illustrator, Derek Laufman for letting me work off his Mario illustration.

Thanks Kevin, this was a fun one.

This is based off one of my favorite band's new album (Post Apocalypto) It may not be everyone's favorite but it was fun to build.
