  1. I couldn't kill him. He was so beautiful so the neighbors took him and I thought I smelled a pot of chicken soup a couple of days later. The weeds! Last year I had tons, this year I learned how great mulch can be.
  2. The figs are ripening now, lots of ants and bees eating them, and birds. There's plenty for everyone, though.
  3. Thanks! How is your garden coming along?
  4. Hello everyone! We got our first egg yesterday and another one today! I thought those birds were never going to lay. The rooster was given away, he started attacking me every time I went inside the pen, the others seem happier without him. We got 6 more layers and they're big now. Here's some more pictures of the garden. I lost all my summer squash due to vine borers. Grrr they got them last year, too. Hope all you guys are enjoying your gardens, too. I did some scroll sawing yesterday, my neighbor's wooden wind chime broke and I made her a couple of replacement parts for it. That felt good to do that for her.
  5. I dropped just about everything to get my garden going for this year. I have not sawed anything, but now I have a little more time. I'm posting some pictures, the garden is a lot bigger now and plants are climbing. Summer squash is popping out everywhere and lots of lettuce. Tomatoes are hanging on all the vines but they're all green. That huge tree is a fig and is loaded. I got the chickens on March 10, they were just little peeps then, they're starting to bok. The rooster was an accident, but he keeps the hens in line from fighting, steps right between them. Just wanted to let you know that I'm still alive and kicking! Howdy!
  6. I saw on Amazon 32 rolls of TP for 199.00. It said ONLY ONE LEFT. ahahaha Don't know what happened to that. Also, I had bought a couple of N95 masks with replaceable filters back in December for scroll sawing purposes. After the mask runs, I checked back and they were 29.00 for that same brand pack of two. I looked a week later and one mask same brand and mask was 54.00. I paid 11.50 for two. Had no idea at the time this Corona virus was coming. And I keep a ton of TP all the time and have for years, so I didn't have to panic buy.
  7. I'm hearing a lot of moaning and groaning from people I warned to stock up way before it became a thing and scoffed at me. Makes me want to say I told you so, but I'm not that type so I won't do it.
  8. I lived in Guam for many years. The typhoons there hardened me up for this type of scenario. No power for a month at a time, no water for weeks. We missed the entire Gulf War one because cable tv was out for so long after one tore through there. I'm just glad it's time for the garden again here in Alabama. We just got 6 laying hens, they're adorable and still babies. Hopefully that solves the egg problem for a few years to come once they start laying. I'm hinting for a cow but so far my husband thinks I'm joking but I'm not.
  9. I saw a bad wind blowing starting January 23. Back then I started buying TP, food, medicine and anything else we might need if stuck at home for weeks. UGH. I'd much rather have been buying more wood for scrolling.
  10. I'll be painting/staining these tomorrow. The patterns came from JGR. I'm cutting all her free intarsia patterns. I had the snowman for weeks and didn't even want to try to cut out the owl, the nose is the size of a baby's little fingernail. There are plenty of things I did wrong on these. I did 2 Santa Bears. All are 1/2 inch plywood. I'm not sure if I should paint them where the grain doesn't show through or what yet. I'm planning on finishing all tomorrow and will post pics when they are done. These are the hardest ones I've tried so far. My husband is getting nervous with all these bears hanging around the house. lol I am thinking to do some wood burning on some of the details. Just wanted to drop in and let you all know I didn't quit scrolling yet.
  11. Excellent! I can't wait until I can cut a circle that isn't wiggly. lol
  12. Practice, practice practice. Sometimes I think I am worse than when I started. Here's a clip art picture of an angelfish, I added the water in the background. I'm not sure what wood that is, it's 1/4th inch plywood of some type. I used blue stain for the water and just painted the fish with solid acrylics. What am I going to do with all this stuff I'm making? Maybe I'll take them up to the Senior Center for Bingo prizes?
  13. Thanks for all the encouragement!
  14. This is an intarsia pattern from JGR, a free one. I used plywood, watered down copper metallic paint and watered down off white acrylic. There are only 7 pieces to this. My dorsal fin broke because of a void in the wood and I had to glue it back together.
  15. Aww! It's even got a front porch/balcony. Very cute and good work!
