  1. I'll be painting/staining these tomorrow. The patterns came from JGR. I'm cutting all her free intarsia patterns. I had the snowman for weeks and didn't even want to try to cut out the owl, the nose is the size of a baby's little fingernail. There are plenty of things I did wrong on these. I did 2 Santa Bears. All are 1/2 inch plywood. I'm not sure if I should paint them where the grain doesn't show through or what yet. I'm planning on finishing all tomorrow and will post pics when they are done. These are the hardest ones I've tried so far. My husband is getting nervous with all these bears hanging around the house. lol I am thinking to do some wood burning on some of the details. Just wanted to drop in and let you all know I didn't quit scrolling yet.
  2. Excellent! I can't wait until I can cut a circle that isn't wiggly. lol
  3. Practice, practice practice. Sometimes I think I am worse than when I started. Here's a clip art picture of an angelfish, I added the water in the background. I'm not sure what wood that is, it's 1/4th inch plywood of some type. I used blue stain for the water and just painted the fish with solid acrylics. What am I going to do with all this stuff I'm making? Maybe I'll take them up to the Senior Center for Bingo prizes?
  4. Thanks for all the encouragement!
  5. This is an intarsia pattern from JGR, a free one. I used plywood, watered down copper metallic paint and watered down off white acrylic. There are only 7 pieces to this. My dorsal fin broke because of a void in the wood and I had to glue it back together.
  6. Aww! It's even got a front porch/balcony. Very cute and good work!
  7. Those are great. I want to make some of those! I don't have a cell phone, but everyone else I know has one.
  8. Super job well done! I don't see any imperfections.
  9. Gorgeous thing it is!
  10. Very nice. I need to make a key plaque for my house.
  11. Nice work and theme!
  12. Those are great! My niece would go crazy over those, she loves dream catchers.
  13. Thanks dgman! We'd been trying to find a dog for a few months and there he was! My husband was surprised with his gift, he'll be even more surprised when I sell it to my sister's friend. Bwahaha! Just kidding, I'll make her another one.
  14. Nice one!
  15. Buddy is a Dollar Store Dog. Got him at the Dollar Store. I went there one night and he was standing in the auto doors and irritating the people that worked there. He'd been hanging around there for a week and was starving to death. Poor guy's ribs were literally sticking out. I brought him home, my husband and I had been wanting a dog anyway. We've had him for about 2 months now, he's enjoying all the food and pets and running around on 1.5 acres of fenced in property. I love this pup and so does my husband. Spoiled!!!
  16. I like it!
  17. I just got my saw around Christmas. I started out doing this kind of scrolling and have never done fretwork. The first pattern I tried was a whale, it's only a few pieces. https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1395/0011/files/Whale-Intarsia-instructions1.pdf?548 It's free and so are these. They're intarsia, but I just cut things out of one board and stain or paint the pieces different colors. https://intarsia.com/pages/download-free-intarsia-patterns
  18. Thanks! I sent these pictures to my sister and she had a friend over, her name is Rose. She is wanting to buy it.
  19. I got this from Steve Good's site. I used plywood, wood stain, diluted metallic acrylics and some irridescent paint medium with a satin finish. I had some issues with the blade at first and messed up my circles and I used way too big of a drill bit to make the entry hole. This is the most complicated one so far. I enjoyed making it and gave it to my husband for valentine's day. I'm also adding a picture of Buddy my shop doggie.
  20. You see all that and I see something very well done. With close work you know every fuzz and blip, but no one else does.
  21. Thanks a bunch Rockytime! It's getting funner.
  22. LOL Yep! I just moved from California to Alabama a year ago and it's the same back there, too. Not here though, I think it's a million years in prison for walking around goggle eyed in this state.
  23. I think it's beautiful. But I can relate regarding the size issue. I made a pattern that was almost half the size of what it was supposed to be. I struggled through it, but it would have been a lot easier full sized. You did a great job on that, be proud!
  24. That's awesome! Your customer should be very pleased.
  25. Thanks Ron, it's a lot more fun since I'm more comfortable with all the new equipment, camera, printer, sanders and saw. Everything was new and lots of learning.
