  1. That is stunning, I must try a portrait soon, something I've not done yet, I might try something a bit easier to start though lol P.S. I see you are just down the road from me
  2. Easy to cut!!! it's sending me crossed eyed just looking at it for a moment, god knows what I'd be like following the pattern lol, seriously though really well done, does/will make an interesting talking point
  3. Many thanks to you all for the anniversary best wishes and comments on the box, Julia did love it, and it now has some trinkets in it and pride of place on her dresser, thank you all once again, fingers crossed we will get to the high numbers anniversaries mention above
  4. Really well cut Joe, good crisp lines
  5. I made this for Julia, as it's our 32nd wedding anniversary today, it's funny but it only seems like 99 years ago we tied the knot lol Steve Good pattern once again, altered it from filigree top to inlay, wood 1 1/4" Mahogany body and 1/4" inlay, and 1/4 Oak for top and bottom P.S. the bonus with this is the Mahogany I cut the inlay from will make a filigree top for another box.
  6. A very eye catching cut Frank, the small amount of cuts make it easy for you to digest the image, sometimes the more complicated cuts are too much to take in
  7. That's a smashing piece Alex
  8. Two cute cuts
  9. Wonderful likeness and well cut

Really well done piece of scrolling, and the framing makes even better
  11. Thank you all for your comments and likes
  12. That's a cute kitten, smashing work
  13. Another Steve Good pattern (he is so good to us scrollers), although he suggests 1/2" timber for the basket, I used 1 1/4" Mahogany as I have lots at hand, the top and bottom are as Steve suggests 1/4" again Mahogany, this has come out at 5" tall 5 3/4 long and 4 1/2 deep ( I did enlarge the pattern slightly), not sure what it will used for yet, but I'm sure something will come to mind
  14. Stunning cutting of a great pattern, I've not done anything needing so many cuts, mainly because I have the attention span of a gnat lol
  15. That's really well done, it's a lucky friend that will get that
  16. That's very well done
  17. Lovely scrolling, I'm with you on the pine, if it's free I'm using it, and it contrasts well
  18. Excellent cutting, the rose and name combination works really well
  19. Thank you all for your comments and suggestions for the inlay wood, it's much appreciated
  20. Thank you for taking the time to comment Frank, I think the shipping cost to the UK from Ocooch Hardwoods would be a bit over my virtually non existent budget, I will look for a UK supplier though, thanks again
  21. Two more inlays (only because they are easy) a generic Hare and hopefully a likeness of our dog Holly, I didn't get the pointy ears quite right unfortunately, but the grandchildren recognised her straight away, so it must be somewhere close Woods and pattern same as last time, Steve Good pattern, 1 1/4" mahogany for box 1/4 mahogany top and base, 1/4 Oak for inlay, I would like to use a whiter wood for the inlay, if you have any suggestions for it, that are easily available in the UK it would be greatly appreciated, I'm not very up on woods I use what I can scavenge or have given me as a rule for my scrolling, yes I am a very poor tight git lol PS. the pic of Holly is from 2014
  22. I think that says it all lol
  23. That's a great likeness, really well done
  24. I made these earlier in the year for my son a Man U fan, and his mate a Leeds fan, my sons is on his desk at work, I made detachable feet for it, and his mates is in his mancave at home, both are made from 1" thick Indian Rosewood from a repurposed table top, both finished with homemade Bees Wax
  25. I struggle with compound cutting, I'm same as yourself wanting to rush every cut, I try to finish before I've started lol, really impressed by this work, and clock is something new I'd not come across before, very well done
