  1. Hi all I need some help please, my eyes are not so good, so I cut with a pair of readers and use an illuminated magnifying glass. A friend of mine prepared a pdf pattern for before our relocation where the Infill was 50% gray and the Stroke was Black .5 thickness ( I like using Red but I don’t have a A3 printer so Ineed to have my pattern printed at the print shop, the problem I have is as soon as you tell them it’s twovolorthe charge you the color price which is three times more expensive than BW. So now on the Inkspace user forums they said I must do the following: 1) Import your pattern into Inkspace, then highlight the pattern and save as a plain svg. 2) Then import your newly saved pattern (svg) highlight the pattern and select path then trace bitmap - Nothing happens. 3) Tried setting to infill to 50% gray - did not work 4) Tried setting stroke to black .5 - did not work So I figured that I have this whole all messed up, can some one please help me fix this it’s very important to help me and my failing eye sight.
  2. Peter I generally stack two ply boards together, this gives me to complete scroll cuttings. I’m trying to build up some stock hoping to sell some.
  3. Thank You, I’m not a hole counter, I drill ten holes at a time and just wait for the cutting to take on its character.
  4. Oh I am so super cheffed with the result of this Beautiful Russ Beard Pattern, cut throughout with Niqua #0 & #1 pin less straight blades (don’t get anything else here). Double stacked 4mm Birch Ply. Now for sanding Oil, Varnish and frame.
  5. I have not had the opportunity to sell any of my work, given a lot away, but being a pensioner the comes a time when you to try and bring in some money from sales to keep cutting, especially in our country where everything is just so expensive.
  6. Okay so I have checked with the local electrical wholesalers and they do have a “Push to make Lift to break” foot pedal which will be ideal, it is sold as a light duty foot pedal maximum load 16A which is an over kill but I’m sure this will work fine. Thank for your advice and assistance.
  7. That was my thinking, I don’t know if I can get a on off foot pedal here in South Africa, maybe I can modify mine to do that will have to open it to see if it’s possible. Thanks for this advice.
  8. I generally break up my cutting into segments, firstly I only drill 10 holes at a time, I have to get up and walk to the other side of my small workshop to drill the holes, I then sand the back just to get rid of the burrs caused by the drill and then I cut again, fore about a hour, then I take a complete break for anything up to a hour before I start the whole process again. It works for me I’m working to any times he file but my own, I don’t rush, it’s just one hole at a time.
  9. I know this topic has been discussed before, but none of the discussion have the strange problem I sit with. First a little back round I have a similar saw as your Wen that has been modified beyond its wildest dreams, I made a stand out of 1/8” x 2” angle steel frame, as I can’t weld it was bolted together spring washers were used and two nuts with Red Loctite applied to lock them in place to prevent any movement. 4” from the ground a shelf was fitted again ensuring the legs can’t move out, on the shelf is two 88 pound concrete pavers adding to the security of no movement at all. Now the coin test was done and the coin fell over between 3/4 and full speed which does not concern at all as I don’t cut at those speeds, so now I add a Foredom Foot Pedal, and the strange things happens, the saw is set to full speed, but when I use the foot pedal I have vibration, take the foot pedal out no vibration, so coming from the electrical industry ( heavy current) not understand electronics I started thinking even though the saw speed control is at full speed and the foot pedal is now controlling the speed is there no some form of conflict between the speed control devices. Removing the foot pedal and setting the saw speed to my preferred cutting speed which is between half and three quarter speed mo vibration at all. So is thre anybody in the community that can throw some light as to what the problem could be.
  10. This is also a Russ Beard pattern, this is Crucified.

  12. Great cutting Dick, I’m just completing one of Russ’s patterns, love his patterns they are so well designed and the detail he puts into they is awesome.
  13. I’m not sure if it was posted in this community, but someone posted a paragraph about the value of a scroll saw cutting, they pointed out the experience in cutting the pattern, the hours of hard work etc. if anyone has a copy of that, please mail it to me at [email protected]. i would be very great full.
  14. Staring to show some character now.
  15. Just started this beautiful Leopard in the tree, a Russ Beard pattern, doing a double stack, on 3mm (1/8”) Birch Ply, using a 0 Niqua Pin Less Blade.
