  1. I was doing some cutting over the weekend and all of a sudden when I put tension on the blade I was not getting the clicking action I normally feel, and the handle went all the way to #5. I am planning on taking the saw apart this weekend and giving it a bit of a tune up, thanks to Rick Hutcheson's website, and see about removing the 'rod knock' that I hear once in a while. I'm just wondering if this is something I should concerned about or if it is something that happens with normal use. Thanks for reading this. Feel free to offer some words of wisdom if there are any. Dang it. Sorry for the double post. I blame the keyboard.

  3. I hope I don't get kicked out of the community for this, but I was asked to cut an F Bomb. I didn't like the looks of the round type bombs, so I came up with the dynomite version. The dowels are 1 1/4 inch and the fuse is some wire I had laying around the workbench. I painted the F really hot colors to help people realize it was not an actual bomb. I may make one with a very short fuse for those people with a short fuse... Sorry I had to edit this post, but my keyboard does not know how to spell so good-ly.
  4. I have done a lot of stuff over the years, some was good, so not sot so good, but here is a sample of my past work. I do no remember where most of the patterns came from, but the portrait is my wife's son. It was cut after his death. The Bucky memorial is based off of a pattern I found in the pattern library, made by Christina Scherl, and was made for a friend of a friend who's dog passed away. I am open to any and all comments, good and bad. Thanks for looking.
  5. I like the look of those blade holders. Do you remember where you picked them up, and how much they set you back?
  6. Welcome to the neighborhood. You'll find that a lot of the people here may seem like they have a screw loose, but if you ask a question They know what they are talking about. Trust me, you'll enjoy yourself here.
  7. I love the Fallout 3 cutting. My oldest son turned me onto this game. I also like Fallout New Vegas. I have the next 4 days off; Fallout or scrolling? Decisions, decisions. HELP. How should I spend my 4 days off?
  8. Very Nice. I have been thinking of cutting some of my old albums, and thanks to your pictures I see I do not have to make them into clocks. Thanks for the inspiration.
  9. Welcome. This is an awesome community you've joined. You will really enjoy your stay.
  10. I agree 100% about losing the clear tape. As for me the clear tape causes more trouble than good. Maybe you're not using enough glue, or not letting it set ujp long enough. Good luck
  11. I tried that. The boss sits right behind me, so I may not be the smartest donkey in the pasture. get it... Stupid Donkey!!
  12. Yesterday I noticed the sight was running quite slow. I thought it was the update's fault. I was looking while I was at work, so I didn't mind the extra time. this is an awesome sight. I am not going to complain, especially since I get paid top check it out. Today it seems to be running fine. What more could I ask for?
  13. Welcome. Did you catch the first pattern of this trophy? Very nice cutting.
  14. Welcome from the Green Bay area. I am rather new here myself, but this is an amazing place. I think you'll like it.
  15. If you were going to give me this artwork, I would prefer the colorized version on un-stained wood. That is very nice work.
  16. thank you for posting the picture of your test. I was just wondering about finishes myself, and you saved me some time. Up til now I haven't really used a finish other than the occasional coat of paint. Thanks again for saving me some time.
  17. Welcome from the Green Bay area. Nice shop, but it's pretty clean, ain't it??
  18. Even though I have only made one other post, I have done quite a bit of cutting, while sitting. When I first started I would break blades rather quickly, since I was self taught without the aid of the internet. I found the deadman switch to be a very helpful tool. when the blade would break my natural instinct was to jump, thus pulling my foot from the switch. I don't know if that helped save wear and tear on the saw, but it made me feel good not to hear the saw clanking with no (one piece) blade installed. I hope this helps. Jim
  19. Hello, My name is Jim, but those who know me call a stupid donkey (or something similar). I have been scrolling for about 20 years, but it feels like I have just started. I am always learning new tricks to make my sawing more enjoyable and easier. As I look around the site if I don't see any of my tips I will add them. I hope to learn quite a bit from this group. Sorry if the first part sounds rather snobbish. I was doing that at work, and stupid me, I sit right in front of my boss. Anyway, I hope to learn a lot here, and if I can, I'll help someone else. I mainly enjoy cutting word-art and Christmas ornaments. Thanks for the well wishes so far.
