  5. Thanks everyone. Steve does some fantastic work. The wood is oak and only about a half inch thick. I used a # 4 skip tooth. You could do it with a spiral blade too.
  6. I have had the pattern for the wolf for awhile, my brother gave me the perfect piece of wood to do it. The pattern is in our library and done by Seyit Tokat from Turkey. The cross Steve Good did around Christmas, I liked it so much I jumped on it.

    A few boxes

Thanks. The log is poplar. The marks in the wood are actually stains in the wood.

    A few boxes

Working on the boxes I have found that a 1/8 inch blade works much better you just have to go very slow.. I used an olsan blade, 1/8" .018 14 teeth per inch, hook style and the set is ETS.

    A few boxes

Thanks, my wife put black felt in the one. I had gotten the others sanded pretty good and came out pretty nice.
  25. I finished a few more. The walnut box is done on the scroll saw. It's five 3/4" pieces and would be a very pretty if I had enough from the front piece for the whole box. It has an amazing grain. The small log or branch actually is from a piece of fire wood we had in the back yard. I did this one on the band saw. The larger oak box was done on the band saw also. It came from some old oak my brother gave me and maybe came from a barn, it sure smelled like one. I finished each with semi gloss poly. I'm giving that one to my daughter for Christmas. I finally received a book on scroll saw boxes so that's the next project. Comments welcome..
