If I were in the market for a dust collector, I would give this one a serious look. I might sell my Delta and buy this one.

I am wondering if anyone has had experience with this StewMac Safe-t-Planer? With all the talk from others about planers/planing, I thought I would look around. I definitely don't have room for a bench top planer. Thought this might be a good fit for the smallish pieces that we use. https://www.stewmac.com/search/?q=safe-t-planer

Adam Savage once said on his channel to start with the cheapest version of a tool that does what you want. Once you used it then you'll know what you want in the best version or you'll know it's not worth the money. To that end I've wanted a scroll saw since I was a kid, so for about 28 years. I recently got some money as the employee of the quarter and I had an excuse. I went looking for a scroll saw in my budget and I found this: https://www.homedepot.com/p/General-International-1-2-Amp-16-in-Variable-Speed-Scroll-Saw-with-Flex-Shaft-LED-Work-Light-BT8007/206347735 The General International 16in Variable Speed Scroll saw. The saw can take Pin or Pinless blades. In general I like it for what it is. A beginner scroll saw. The one thing though that I really didn't like was the it uses an Allen Wrench to remove and add the blade. That needed to change. Look at the manual I noted that bolt was just an M4-0.7 hex head bolt. To McMaster-Carr, the parts would have been $11 with $11 shipping and come in 1-3 weeks. To Amazon: M4 Star Knob - Swpeet 15Pcs M4 7 Star Knob Female Thread Nut Clamping Knob Grip Assortment Kit, Star Shape Hand Knobs Black Plastic Screw-On Handle Clamping Knob for Mechanical Equipment (M4): Amazon.com: Industrial & Scientific M4 Threaded Bar - Amazon.com: uxcell M4 x 110mm 304 Stainless Steel All Threaded Rod Bar Studs Fastener 10 Pcs: Home Improvement $16.50 Total and could be here in 2 days. We have a winner even thought I'm not fond of the star knobs. Biggest problem is I can only tilt the table 15 degrees as I went with a long bottom pull to clear the guard and well... the guard is built in a way that the hole is off... I may turn that into a stubby like the top. Plus the blade wants so slip a little from the bottom but, I don't think its the swap out causing that as much as I think I need to rough up that grip somehow. Suppers ready so I'm going to expand this a little later if others are interested in the steps and why. ------------ Bit of an update. Needes to loctite the bottom and top ones at the grip. Today I made a new plate for the where the saw goes. Its clear so the visibility is up.

I am considering buying this https://www.rockler.com/dust-right-flexiport-power-tool-hose-kit-with-auxiliary-ports-3-to-12-expandable#. Does anyone have experience with it? For any Canadians here, are there any retailers in Canada that carry something similar?

I have a pin vise, looks like a miniature drill chuck. I've used it in the past without any problems, but now it won't hold a small (less than 1/16th) dill bit straight. It will hold larger bits straight but not the small ones. So, two questions: 1. can I fix it 2. whats a good brand name for a replacement/second?

Well my Wife and I went to Ky to visit my Parents over the Labor Day wknd, and my kid Bro had a big surprise for me.A slightly used scroll saw!! It's a Porter Cable.I thought it was just like mine, but I found out it wasn't.It only has 2 speeds.Off and slow. But you can't look a gift horse in the mouth. My old one was running a bit ragged,so I am Happy to get a almost new one.I t will just take a bit longer to cut my plaques, which matches my speed as of late.lol.

Dad thought it would be a good idea to ask opinions on here in order to determine what the best planer might be for me. I am looking at three different planers: 13" DeWalt 735, Delta 22-590 or 22-555, I am not sure what the difference is between the delta models but i think it is that the 590 has 3 blades and is worth the extra $90 because it will be saved in sand paper. i am leaning toward Delta because i heard it comes all assembled and very accurate. i heard the blades last longer and the machine is quieter. The blades are supposed to be easier to change and Delta has a patented lock system that prevents snips. Any opinions?

I have had the pleasure of cutting on this saw and I do like it better than the RBI but it is more costly than the RBI. http://www.scrollsaws.com/images/MovieFiles/eclipse.mpg http://www.eclipsesaw.com/ I hear you guys talk about the RBI, Dewalt and other saws but, I haven't heard anyone talk about the Eclipse.

OK. So I'm in the market to buy a miter saw. I'm tired of borrowing my Dad's when I have a project. Quite honestly, I'm sure he's tired of retrieving it from my house, too. I want to get a 12" Dewalt Compound Miter saw. This one is a single bevel for $249. For an extra $100, I can get the Dewalt double bevel compound miter saw. I have the extra $100, but I'd rather buy some new lighting for my shop instead. I'm just not sure if it's really worth the extra $100. What I really want is the 12" Double Bevel Sliding miter saw. But we're looking at $542, which is waaaay out of my budget. So I'm stuck with one of these two options. I only want to buy this once and want to make the right choice. Waddya think? Is the double bevel really worth the extra $100? Technically, the single bevel can still do everything the double bevel can do. You just have to adjust the saw a bit differently.
