dansnow Posted June 15, 2014 Report Posted June 15, 2014 A few months ago my son and I built a wooden dragon pull toy designed by John Hutchinson and published in the April 2000 issue of Woodworkers Journal. Erik did the cutting and I did the assembly and finishing. This time I decided to save some of the fun for myself and did the cutting as well. First picture is all the parts laid out, with some of the center pieces glued to the second layer. Needed to get this far so I can finish the exposed areas of the center section before gluing the sides together with the cams in place. When all is done the head, wings, rear legs and tail move as the critter is pulled along. The second picture is of the finished one we built earlier. Black Walnut, Maple, Red Oak and Zebra wood. oldhudson 1 Quote

Lucky2 Posted July 16, 2014 Report Posted July 16, 2014 Cute dragon Dan, I would love to have a copy of this pattern. My daughter collects Dragons, she'd love to have one of these fellows. I'll have to see if I can find the pattern, you gave me a place to start looking in the old Woodworkers Journals. Thanks for that, and thanks for sharing this with us. Len Quote
