Travis Posted January 16, 2015 Report Posted January 16, 2015 Looks like a lot of work with the extra painting. How long do they take you? Quote
stu Posted January 16, 2015 Author Report Posted January 16, 2015 Hi Travis haven't really figured out time for each one cut a bunch out of maple paint white, sand then paint again in phases time just fades away Stu Quote
rjR Posted January 16, 2015 Report Posted January 16, 2015 You have to get materials, shop wear & tear-- light-heat-- any other extras--- trips etc. and then add the $.00002 per day you actually make on them! Still cheaper and much more enjoyable than golf! amazingkevin 1 Quote
DWSUDEKUM Posted January 16, 2015 Report Posted January 16, 2015 Stu I have researched the pricing on wooden angel ornaments and they tend to range in the $5 - $8 range. Hope that that helps a bit. DW amazingkevin 1 Quote
stu Posted January 16, 2015 Author Report Posted January 16, 2015 Never had the erge to chase a ball around in the rain and thanks I figured that price is the cost to make them Thanks Stu Quote
lawson56 Posted January 16, 2015 Report Posted January 16, 2015 I saw the Heading thought I would step in have a look.I think $5 would be a good round figure. Quote
LarryEA Posted January 16, 2015 Report Posted January 16, 2015 Tough one. What would the Group sell them for? And that is not a fair question since they sell as ones helping a cause. $5.00 is fair. Quote
sullyscroller Posted January 16, 2015 Report Posted January 16, 2015 Stu , I have done these before and because they are compound cuts $8 is the min. i charged but they did not sell great even after i lowered the price to 5 .If you are only making a few of them then have fun, but a ton and you will hate them. Just my nickles worth. sully amazingkevin 1 Quote
ike Posted January 16, 2015 Report Posted January 16, 2015 I wouldn't go for less than $5, on any compound cut. I have done several compound cut ordiments tried to sell them for $7 but had to lower my price to $5 hen thay didn't sell very well. It all depends on how cheratable you are. amazingkevin 1 Quote
don in brooklin on Posted January 16, 2015 Report Posted January 16, 2015 Our club did over 100 last year for the local Cancer support center. Done in Gold for children's awareness month. In order to pay for the boxes we sold them in pink for $5 each. We also donate a few to the gift shop and they were selling for $10 but eventually reduced to $5. The amount of work dictates more money but $5 seem like the going rate. Also, we bought little gold boxes that really sets them off and so might get a few more dollars. amazingkevin 1 Quote
stu Posted January 16, 2015 Author Report Posted January 16, 2015 I was thinking the 5-7$ range but will only work if they sell for $10-15 and not real sure about turning a very part-time hobby into a production job as I already have one but this lady's husband told me most of this group is in the USA and they all meet up in Vegas in April. So there may be a shout out Thanks for all the help/input Stu Quote

Lucky2 Posted January 18, 2015 Report Posted January 18, 2015 Stu, I cut similar ornaments for the same type of occaisions. I cut two times per year for them, one time is for the memorial cancer Christmas ceremony in Dec. And the next set are for the Cancer Memorial service, which is held in June. At first I was doing it for free, but, they insisted that I charge for them or they wouldn't be able to accept them. So,I charged $5.00 for each one, then I donated the money to the hospital. For me it just doesn't feel right to charge for them, but, they say that there is a budget and for them to keep everything on track, they had to dispense the money in the form of a check. Good luck, I hope it doesn't turn into a "job" for you, it could ruin a very enjoyable hobby. I no longer make them, I told them in Dec that I was giving up the job and gave them a couple of names of other scrollers Len Quote
stu Posted January 18, 2015 Author Report Posted January 18, 2015 Thanks Len had to say let me do these 30 first then will see what happens because I'd like to build up different stock for owlcanada.org open house in April as they survive solly on donations. Stu Quote
