Had a sale on Saturday Sept 12th at a once a year craft sale here in Lubbock. Poor shopper turnout  this year but OK sales totals.  Sold more than I did at this sale last year but about one half of the total sales of previous years.  Still worth the effort though.  I sold twenty five of the boxes, one star and some crosses.  Lots of $5  rubber band shooters too. In the photo you can see how I displayed sixty four boxes and the other items there.   I built four simple display racks to set on tables, that present the boxes well and are simple to make, set up, and transport. I have another similar ,once a year, sale next weekend but it is a two day event.  Hope the turnout is better there.

I was sad not to see you in the picture trying to get your wallet back in your pocket.Outrageous amount of time and effort to make these  exhibits of professionalism.

Very nice display Jim! Most shows I do here in Southern California only allow you a 10'x10' space unless you buy two spaces.

Well here in the "Wide open spaces" of West Texas we are allowed to go a bit beyond the ten feet by ten feet space we pay for.  Further out of town next month they start out with ten feet by fifteen feet spaces.  Ten by ten is pretty small for all I display.  IN fact, at this sale my wife was right next to me with her display of crocheted items so we put our displays on the back and sides of our two spaces allowing more free access for shoppers.  If you do not have one side kinda' "open"  folks will not drift into the back of your space to see all you have.  She did well in her sales also. Thanks for all the kind comments folks.

Update:

I went to a small west Texas towns'  pumpkin festival about an hour from home today and we had great weather and great turnout.  I sold thirty five boxes , five stars and a bunch of toy guns.  Best sale of the year so far. I also got an order for six more boxes.

I only have two more sales scheduled this year but still looking around for more.

I used the same display as I did in September and it worked well for me.  My wife set up next to me again and did well also. She sells her crocheted items.

I tried to post this in another forum but not only will they not let me post photos anymore but would not even let me post there today.  About to give up on them.  It has been over  two months now since this problem arose.

On the far end of the box display....are those oval boxes?

I really like the 'vertical' display, looks a lot better then if those boxes while just laying flat on the table.  Sort of give 'equal' viewing for all of them....

This is what my display looks like without the product on it.  Each section is four feet long.  I have had more vertical displays but the wind here is a serous problem, but this one works well fo for me. One photo shows how the shelves are supported underneath.

No those are decorative fireplace bellows I make and cannot sell.  Here are some photos of some of them.

Raise the price for a "higher percived value". It works for me when something doesn't sell.

I have made fireplace bellows for over thirty years now.  About fifty of them.  I gave twenty five to relatives and sold the rest, but it took many years to do.  Not much of a market for them.  I have priced, and sold a few, ranging from $60 down to $20.

Outside shows like these, here in Texas, are not strictly kept to ten feet.  12'-15' is normal.  This festival I was on their very last space, and was in the middle of the street with vendors on each curb.  (Many streets here are seven lanes wide, yes city streets)  My wife and I had two spaces that were 15 feet wide so we had a total of 30 feet to work with.  With that much room we set up eleven tables five feet  and six feet long.  I was able to extend them out to the front past the ten feet also.  The two spaces cost $110.  I sold that much and more in just toys.

I get patterns, if you can call them that, from clip art.  All I need is an image or name and I can inlay that image into the box lids.

I use "Word" to get any lettering I need for this.  I do not do fretwork which does require more work to develop a pattern I think.

I sell all my boxes for $20 and stars for $25, toys for $5.  When I first sold a lot of boxes I was selling them for $14 (Five years ago) and did sell more of them then.

My material cost in each box is about $2 and It takes me about two hours to make one, if I make ten, or more, at a time.  Not much for me but I do have fun, and someone else is funding my hobby.  This way my hobby does not impact my household budget at all.
