Hi All.

Just for a bit of fun. What is it?😀

I've had to break it down into about 4 parts so I could move it. It weighs a ton😧

A bit of history on how I ended up with it.

I was looking for a rolling tool cabinet on e bay a couple of years ago and I came across this bit of kit. I'm not sure why it was in that section and at the time I didn't even know what it was, but I really liked the look of it.

It had a few hours to go before the auction finished and had a £60 bid on it. So I put a bid of a £100 and hoped that I would get lucky. Well I ended up as the highest bidder and ended up paying £78.

For the last two years It has been stored and cared for in my mates workshop. Now I have finally got it in my shed and can't wait to get it built up and start using it.

It looks like a cross slide in one of the pics but given the quality of the engineering I would say it is definitely a BARGAIN at that price.

So go on, what is it? Do tell!

Hi all.

I was hoping to get the thing built today and put some pics up. But just not had time.

All great guesses. It is a Taylor Hobson Pantograph.

This is a pic from the net. Not the exact same model or colour.

You put letters, numbers or pattern on the plate to the right and your work piece on the platform to the left and then you copy.

Hi Kevin.

You are absolutely right about built to last.

Paul, if you can get this thing operational, it sure would be nice to see a video of it working.

Len

Hi Len.

As soon as I get it back up and running I will definitely get video and post it here.

Dam wish I'd thought of saving one of those, we used to use them for engraving plates on aircraft undercarriages years ago bit more high text and computerised now. thanks for showing.  Roly

Hi Roly.

You are right, it's all laser printers now but they do not look as nice.

Ugly as sin but still a thing of great beauty.  Awesome that you got all the letter templates with it too.  Now we want to see that message cut with it.

Your new career as a sign maker awaits.
