Todd that came out great.  Might want to try Tung oil as it will soak into the grain and seal it then you can topcoat with lacquer or polyurathane or shellac if you wished to.  Thanks for sharing the bowl with us.  What woods did you use?

DW i used a bamboo cutting board for it.

Joe, I don't doubt that you can, all it takes is a bit of practice and a lot of sanding. They are easy to make, all you have to do is follow a squiggley line with your blade or table set at an angle. For practice, just use any 3/4"to 1" flat board or piece of plywood.

Will here it is my first attemp at a bowl.its about 7"x10"x3"deep.made it from a 3/4: cutting board.finished it with 3 coats of mineral oil i do like the way the mineral oil finish brought out the brightness of the wood.but those cutting boards are hard on the blades.

Bamboo has a great look to it.I look at their cutting blocks at the store now and then.You did a jam up job! :thumbs: :thumbs: :thumbs: :thumbs: :thumbs: :thumbs: :thumbs:
