I thought that the Mom signs would sell, being Mothers  day next month, and the Nova signs being that this is the area, and being in the Championship would also sell, guess I was wrong on both.   edward

I have tried selling my boxes with MOM inlaid into them.  I also made some saying Dad and Grandpa and some saying Grandma.  The dad ones and the grandpa  boxes sold well, but the mom or grandma boxes did not.  I think it is because there are a lot of wall hung wooden items that moms like but men, for the most part are partial to more functional items like boxes.  When folks are shopping for a man they buy boxes and the boxes I sell for women, tend to have , flowers, butterflies etc. on them, not words.

     Just my observation.

Well, I have to say, if there is anyone that knows the seller market out there, It has to be Jim Finn. He not only sells a lot of boxes but he is an expert at merchandising. I love the way he does things. He has a way to feel out the crowds like no one else.

I do not know what Edward does about items in reserve at shows but what I do is:

I take to the shows two of every style box I make (about fifty).  I display fifty  and hold the second fifty items  in boxes under the table.  As I sell an item I replace it with the one in reserve.  I like to keep my display full  during the whole time there.  I have found that I seldom sell more than one of most items, so two is enough.

Items that I know from experience sell well I take three or four of them with me to be held in reserve at the sale.  Experience has taught me this.

This is a place to start and if you find it does not work like it does for me you can adjust this to your needs in your area.

I agree with Jim as to the fact you need at least two of everything. Unless It is a custom item with a name, and I don't do many of these, I stack cut whatever is possible. I even use different woods and back colors on wall hangings as peoples taste and color schemes vary.
