trailfndr Posted May 11, 2016 Report Posted May 11, 2016 A Judy Gale Roberts patter. made with Afromosia, Aromatic Cedar, CheChen, Lyptus, Osage Orange, Paduck, Peruvian Walnut, Poplar, Red Oak, and Walnut. It is 37 inches long by about 7 inches tall. I was worried about so many exotic woods, but it turned out even better than I expected it to. Hawk, don watson, New Guy and 6 others 9 Quote

trailfndr Posted May 12, 2016 Author Report Posted May 12, 2016 Thanks Everyone. I'll tell ya, that Afromosia, and Osage Orange are some HARD woods to cut. I went thru a blade (FD-UR5) on each leaf of those two woods, just to be able to leave a smooth clean cut, and to be able to follow the line. They are so hard its difficult to follow a line properly. I slowed my feed rate to almost nothing. With Poplar, I can cut a leaf in 30 seconds. With Afromosia, the same leaf took me 5 minutes or more. NOT woods I would use on a daily basis, but they darn sure add a nice coloration to the finished project. Special pieces only for these woods LOL. Quote

Barry5180 Posted May 24, 2016 Report Posted May 24, 2016 That is one beautiful piece. I'm pretty sure I've never worked with Afromasia, let alone heard of it. Now I have something new to google. I have not attempted intarsia yet, but seeing this kind of work makes me want to just do it. Absolutely gorgeous. Barry Quote
NC Scroller Posted May 27, 2016 Report Posted May 27, 2016 I'm at Judy's studio this week. That's one of the patterns the wife picked out. Very nice job. Quote
Greenie Posted June 28, 2016 Report Posted June 28, 2016 Great job, only problem is down here in LA ( lower Alabama ) we can't pronounce the names of the woods, much less find them. jamminjack 1 Quote
