Dan, go to Steve Goods site, Scroll saw Workshop, search angel and he has three or four that are good !.....and best of all free !

If you neighbor is looking for a very simple pattern, I would think a sillouette of an angel would work for him.  Just

 

google.......Angel sillouette and tons of them will pop up.
