In my younger days I volunteered to serve my Country in the Army.  Spent a year as a Company Clerk at Camp Tuto, Greenland.  Halfway between the Artic Circle and the North Pole.  Normal high temps of 50 in the light season & 30 below in the dark season, but there was a brief stretch of -54.  You cannot describe the awesomeness of the Northern Lights.

Having lived in the u.p. of michigan for several years I have seen the Northern lights on many occasions and you are right it is something you have to see in person to really see the beauty and have amazing they are.

I served 4 years in the Navy, Was a torpedoes, served on the USS Kearsarge CVS33, Midway Island.6 month on Hawaii  and then finished up on the USS Dixie AD 14 
Took 2 westpac cruses. I saute all service men.THANK YOU
