I think as long as it's inside the wood or finish will not make a difference. It's really the sun that does more damage than anything, then it getting wet I think would be next. For a clear finish spar varnish will hold up about as good as any thing but will have to be refinished every year or two. Two at the most.

Dan, for indoors or outdoors use, you could get away with using most any type of wood that is acclimitized to Florida. For a finish, use what you normally use. You must have a favorite indoors finish, use it, and use whatever else you'd normally use for outdoor work.

I have been to asked to make a Man Cave sign for someone in Florida where it will be in humidity most of the time. What wood or finish would you suggest to use. I usually use oak, walnut or cherry but ondered it Cedar of some other wood could be a better choice. Thanks

Aquatrol  does nice to bring out the best in wood and is uv resistant,Better paint stores carry it.
