JimErn Posted January 4, 2017 Report Posted January 4, 2017 (edited) One of the few nice things a Brigade Commander once said about me.I cut an open cross as part of a project, pic one, and while I am getting better at straight lines, it still needs sanding -sigh.As I was falling asleep last night I was trying to imagine holding sand paper around a stick and sanding the inside of the cross. This morning I woke with an idea.Dremel Roto Multi Max (pic 2) - handy thing it is. I had a worn out narrow blade, some 77 spray glue and I stuck it on the back side of some 320 grit sandpaper (pic 3). I buy round sand paper in bulk, so it was easier to use that. Razor knife and it was cut out (pic 4.jpg).And it works like a champ ! ! (pic 5)The knife is on top to hold the cross so I could take a pic with one hand while holding the dremel in position.Hope it helps someone who needs this kind of thing, with my luck I rediscovered the wheel and everyone else already has it done.:-) Jim edited cause my memory is faulty - or so she says anyway Edited January 4, 2017 by JimErn Rolf, Scrolling Steve, Lucky2 and 1 other 4 Quote
Iguanadon Posted January 4, 2017 Report Posted January 4, 2017 My favorite saying, and I use it often... "If you have a difficult task, give it to a lazy man, he'll find an easier way to do it." I am that lazy man along with you. ;-) Nicely done. lawson56 1 Quote
hawkeye10 Posted January 4, 2017 Report Posted January 4, 2017 Great idea Jim and it makes life a whole lot easier. Quote
dgman Posted January 4, 2017 Report Posted January 4, 2017 I'm lazy too, but I hate sanding! The remedy? Practice cutting straight lines, and cut it right the first time! Quote
LarryEA Posted January 5, 2017 Report Posted January 5, 2017 I buy sticky sandpaper and cut it to fit a popcycle stick or other little sticks. Sometimes use spray glue... Also use velcro backed sandpaper and make mini sanding sticks Quote
Rockytime Posted January 5, 2017 Report Posted January 5, 2017 I raid my wife's makeup things and use her manicure things that look like popsicle sticks covered with sandpaper. Quote
Lucky2 Posted January 5, 2017 Report Posted January 5, 2017 Smart thinking, it would make the sanding job a lot easier. And the good thing about it, is that you were being efficient. Len Quote
wombatie Posted January 5, 2017 Report Posted January 5, 2017 I hate sanding and if there's a better and quicker way that's the way for me. Thanks for the info. Marg Quote
WayneMahler Posted January 5, 2017 Report Posted January 5, 2017 Like the idea. I have been using disposable carded nail files as needed. There are many ways to achieve this and each person has a choice. Whatever works is good Quote
Phantom Scroller Posted January 5, 2017 Report Posted January 5, 2017 I love quick and easy, must mean I'm lazy. Roly Quote
