dgman Posted January 23, 2017 Report Posted January 23, 2017 I am running out of business cards, so it's time to reorder. I am not happy with what I came up with last time. I am not very creative, which is why I am not a pattern maker. I am looking for ideas. Tell me about your business cards. I will be ordering from Vista Prints. Quote
wombatie Posted January 23, 2017 Report Posted January 23, 2017 IF you get red ones have black writing not white like I did, you can only just read mine. Ok that's what not to have. Marg Quote
jrpeteo Posted January 23, 2017 Report Posted January 23, 2017 I'm too cheap to buy them, so I make them using a free AVERY template. I apply packing tape to the front and back before cutting them out. Works good. Pete jbrowning and amazingkevin 2 Quote

Rob Posted January 23, 2017 Report Posted January 23, 2017 I need to order some too Dan. This time, I'm going to follow Iggy's advice and make sure the card reflects what I make. People need to be able to look at your card and go "Oh yeah, that was the guy who did the cool scrollsaw pictures" or whatever you sell most of. Don't forget to show us what you come up with, Rob Quote

That is a joke, you are one of the best scrollers on this forum plus you teach scrolling. I would call that being very creative. That is my story and I am sticking to it. Quote

Iguanadon Posted January 23, 2017 Report Posted January 23, 2017 I have gone through 3 different designs so far and am very happy with my current one. 1) It shows what I make as a reminder to folks that look at it a week later. 2) It's slightly unique in that it's vertical instead of horizontal 3) It's rather concise without a lot of clutter Use code THANKS20 for a 20% off discount from Vistaprint. Good luck and show us what you come up with! Iggy jbrowning 1 Quote
Rolf Posted January 23, 2017 Report Posted January 23, 2017 (edited) I used to make my own. Went with Vista print this time. I only have a logo and an e-mail address on my card. Since i don't really have a business just a hobby that does well. I don't or very rarely do a commission I only give the card to people I would like to stay in contact with. I am also not very creative so at some point I will sit down with my sister, the true artist in the family, or the daughter of a friend that wants to set up a web site for me. SCROLLSAW703 Posted January 23, 2017 Report Posted January 23, 2017 I went to a local printer & had a page made with our name, ph #, etc., & added pictures of our work to the full size page. By the time it was all said & done, the total cost wasn't much more than vista. Quote

Sure, I have altered patterns to suite my needs and such and I can teach, but I am not artistic! Quote
jbrowning Posted January 24, 2017 Report Posted January 24, 2017 This is one I just created for myself. It is a proof from Vista Print. Any suggestions will be appreciated. I will use cleaner pics for the actual business card. Thanks Jim Quote

Good luck and show us what you come up with! Iggy As a former print shop owner that worked with graphic designers, I can say that is a very good card. Many people try to get too creative. You want a card to say who you are, what you do and how to get a hold of you...all in an attractive way. Yours does that. Jim Finn 1 Quote

I will use cleaner pics for the actual business card. Thanks Jim As a former print shop owner who worked with a lot of graphic designers, personally I would get rid of the stripe on the left side of the card. It is relief woodcarving and that doesn't seem to be what you do. Then just spread out the rest of the card to fill the space and don't add anything else. I think it would be cleaner that way and be a very nice card. As they say, take my advice for what it cost. LOL Quote

Pick one place only. No need to duplicate within such a small space. It's fun to showcase what we do, isn't it? Keep up the great work. Iggy Edited January 24, 2017 by Iguanadon Quote
Jim Finn Posted January 25, 2017 Report Posted January 25, 2017 I get mine from vista print also. Just my logo and phone number and email. Mine is just a self funding hobby. Rob 1 Quote
Travis Posted January 25, 2017 Report Posted January 25, 2017 Moo.com is another popular place. I haven't tried them myself, but might be worth a look. They have a bunch of templates to choose from too. Quote
