Bishop Posted February 16, 2017 Report Posted February 16, 2017 We have a very good friend that was redoing some of his office space and was redoing the floors. He had some pieces left and ask if we could do anything with them. We are posting them here to ask what you thing of them. We did go to a floor covering store and pick up a few different colors to add to some of the pictures. We glued the finished picture to black foam board and then mounted them in a frame. Hope you like them. Homer & Carol Fab4, Jim Finn, Kemaldo and 2 others 5 Quote

Rob Posted February 16, 2017 Report Posted February 16, 2017 Wow. Very creative. What are they like to cut? Rob Bishop 1 Quote
meflick Posted February 16, 2017 Report Posted February 16, 2017 Interesting idea for sure. Beautiful work. Like Rob, I am curious as to how they cut and if you were concerned at all about the dust from them. Did you determine the materials they were made from in order to determine the "safety" of cutting them? Bishop and danny 2 Quote

jollyred Posted February 17, 2017 Report Posted February 17, 2017 Really good idea! I think the tile has the look of stone or mineral, and looks especially good in the landscapes. Personally, did not care for the look when used in the animal portraits. But, that's just me. Bishop 1 Quote

Hi Thomas: This is what is great about these There is something for everyone For me it's just the opposite They all look great, but the wolf is what really caught my eye Can you imagine how boring life would be if we all liked and did the same things Fab4 Bishop 1 Quote

Bishop Posted February 17, 2017 Author Report Posted February 17, 2017 Thanks everyone for the kind words. I talked to the guy at the floor store before we cut the tiles and he said there should be no problem. He also ask the rep from one of his suppliers. The tiles are easy to cut as they are only abt. 1/8" thick. We used a #7 skip tooth blade and ran the saw very slow. The tile is plastic and will melt if you run the saw to fast. We have a small rotary tool that runs on low voltage dc, from a charger. It is slower and does not throw a lot of dust around. You can also remove small areas by pulling it past the scroll saw blade, from the back to the front. We also do this when using 3/4" thick wood. Homer & Carol Quote
Phantom Scroller Posted February 17, 2017 Report Posted February 17, 2017 Homer & Carol this is a different idea looks great, bet your clothes are covered in white powder from them tiles instead of saw dust. Roly Bishop 1 Quote
Bishop Posted February 17, 2017 Author Report Posted February 17, 2017 Roly Not so much as you would think as you run the saw very slow and it doesn't make much dust. Homer & Carol Phantom Scroller 1 Quote
