Hi

I was sitting having coffee this morning, thinking about a good friend I had who was reired at the time and I was still working who I met that did a lot of scrolling. He was a great guy to learn from and have coffee with often. It is too bad we don't have any other people that scroll in our town here. Oh Well, I am 71 now and it would have been fun to take a younger person under the wing and teach them a fun hobby, My grandsons are too much into other things and the grandaughters are way to young to do it. I guess I will just have the memories to remember my early days of scrolling and learning.

Yep, it would be fun.  I would like to have someone locally that scrolls, but I do not know how to find them.  One thing I've noticed about turners (lathe) there are normally more of them and they seem to migrate together to form a club.  I have friends thee do lathe work and they belong to an very active club.  I kinda envy them, although I am not a real sociable person, it would be nice to talk face to face with another scroller more often than I get to.  Heppnerguy is 100 miles away so that is a little far to just meet for coffee, at least very often.

I agree. It would be great to find someone local to share scrolling times with. The 2 grand children that live close are not interested, and the 4 in Texas are too far away. I have had the dream of passing all this off to someone younger so the hobby continues to grow. Maybe someday someone will come along.

Wow, this is so familiar. When I first started scrolling both my boys wanted to make an ornament. I pretty much got them started and they both finished a good ornament. That was it for them. I sometimes go to craft shows just to talk to other woodworkers even if I have to pay to get in.

I got two of my friends interested in it and gave them both saws to keep. One never keep with it and the other moved away
