Amber R. King-Southern Posted March 25, 2017 Report Posted March 25, 2017 Good evening scrollers. I know I ask a lot of questions, but I want to know as much as I can about scrolling. So my question today is. How do you price your work? Do you do it based on details? How long it takes you? How much your supplies are? Or do you just say the first number that comes to you? Please share how you price your work. P.S. I participated in the picture of yourself topic in the coffee shop 😬 Quote
WayneMahler Posted March 25, 2017 Report Posted March 25, 2017 This is a subject that has been discussed many times in many different forums. The easiest I found was to figure out what you want to make per hour. Then how long it takes to cut a certain piece. Then I add about 20% for materials and such. This is my normal formula I use. I also allow for stack cutting piece since you cut more then one at a time. Ultimately the market will dictate your price. I use a completely different formula for custom pieces or pieces cut from exotic woods. Hope this helps some. Quote
Amber R. King-Southern Posted March 25, 2017 Author Report Posted March 25, 2017 Yes thank you. Quote
Ron Johnson Posted March 25, 2017 Report Posted March 25, 2017 I price each item accordingly. Taking into account approximate time, materials and etc. I then set a fair price I'll be satisfied with (no formulas). Quote

Can't help you with pricing cause I give all I make away. It's the only way I can get rid of it. blights69 1 Quote
ike Posted March 25, 2017 Report Posted March 25, 2017 I try to get $12 pr hour + material. Sometimes that eon't work Then I use what the market will bear. I like to make $500/1000 for the year and use it for expences next year. IKE amazingkevin and SCROLLSAW703 2 Quote
Denny Knappen Posted March 25, 2017 Report Posted March 25, 2017 For my this is a hobby and if something sells so much the better. Pricing is very relative. I make lots of Miniature Birdhouses and sell them for $10, while my friend in NC can't sell them for $6. It is whatever the market will bear. Quote
orangeman Posted March 25, 2017 Report Posted March 25, 2017 Whatever the market will bear ! If an item doesn't sell for what I think it is worth (considering time and materials) then I will reduce the price until I get rid of them and won't make any more. bb Quote
