Sleeping Bear Cubs - Work in Progress

Nature Photographer Ursula Dubrick gave me permission to turn her photo into an intarsia piece.  Friday I went to the hardwood store and asked for walnut.  There was none on the shelf, but they had some in the back, "really not all that great" they said.  But in terms of Intarsia and thinking teddy bears and fur structure, the wood was simply gorgeous.

are you using walnut for the eyes and snout or is that another speices?

ok, I thought it was much darker, can't wait to see it finished. I like it so much I want to have a jet pack to get to tennessee to do some sanding to help you out!

you can tell by your last two pics that this is going to be a very special piece when completed. it does look like fur...
